I've been thinking of the past, now and future of gaming and what type of games that will drive and set the tone for this next gen.
If you think back of what we have had..
PS2 gen was really the gen for Singing and music games, being social and FPS games really starting to be big.
I really miss that time it was fun with all of the family
Having Norwegian Sing star game was the coolest thing ever, since it was easy to bring the family together.
But of course the industry pumped so MANY singing and music games that it just died out..
Thinking of this gen it was really defined by fast paced FPS, action-adventure games and games with RPG elements..
what has happened ? well the industry has pumped out a lot of FPS over the years..
Is "normal" ppl fed up with FPS ? Will FPS seize to exist ?
I don't know..
what i've seen so far of the next gen games is FPS and adventure games. its predictable.. even PS3 had singstar and guitar hero the first few years..
I do think that its time for PlayStation and Xbox to find something new that will bring the family together again.
thought realistically i think big social RPGs will dominate, it is an untapped marked for that jockeys/Codfanboys and something new for them. and with the great accessibility of the online RPGs that you get now days i don't see any big stop signs for not to play them..
I think there is something amazing that no one ever thought of that will surprise us and really drive the "real" gamers, I would pretty disappointed if this don't happen..
I would also like to see Shadowrun, wasteland 2 and Project Eternity to succeed and bring about a reboot of the single player RPGs.
that is my thoughts on the matter, what do you think?
