Despite everyone suddenly going quiet on those chinese shots (Which in itself was suspicious) I firmly believe they were the real deal with an e3 reveal.
If they could chuck 'em out the door for 200 quid they'd clean up...
Let's speculate :
45 nm cell chip (already in manufacturing since Jan) keeps heat and cost down
Power supply outside the box (keeps heat and size down)
Ditch wireless to save costs ?
Ditching wireless would be silly, it's cheap as chips to stick an antenna in there surely?

I think it's more likely than not at this point. Still be a bit of a bombshell of course, because it would be happening a lot earlier in the life of PS3 than it did for PS1 & PS2.
All about driving the costs down though isn't it, they know the sweet spot is going to be 299 dollars, so if the way to get that is a redesign of the console, then that's what we're going to get. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got a full and light version of the console either, with a gloss finish, bigger hard drive and PS2 BC being in the full version.
I just don't see how they can put BC back into the new revisions of the motherboard... especially given that taking the PS2 hardware out was one of the reasons they were able to make the motherboard smaller in the first place.
If it comes back, I think it's coming back as full software.
The evidence is certainly stacking up. The size thing is actually quite a big issue for some people, so a decent reduction should see a sales spike purely on that basis.

Agree - I think a full software based system is in the works, purely so they can sell you a load of old PS2 software as downloads.

So somebody either doesn't want these photos going around or is putting a lot of effort into the hoax.
I don't know if it'll be at E3, but it's pretty clear it's real.
