Was there anything really on show at E3 in the way of games which was impressive and not headed to platforms I already own (PC and PS3)? I found that most of it was forgettable as I can't even remember most of the games I saw there, and the only ones that were interesting (Project Spark) were being released on platforms I own.
Then there was Ryse. Ryse was so bad, omigosh, it was SO bad. It was the most horrible parts of Assassin's Creed (HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, with SUPER-POWERS) tied to the most awful parts of God of War (KEWL, ROMUNZ!) and as such it lead to a lot of wincing, to the point where I was almost in tears by the end of it. I think I was scarred by that. This is the height of imagination and creativity for the new platforms, is it?
If Project Spark had been XBox One only, then I probably would have given it a look, but... it's a Windows release, too. So why bother with yet another thing under my telly? Especially considering that the way they spun it sounded more fun to play it on a PC/tablet, anyway. And that's not me saying that, but Microsoft. Really, watch their Project Spark demonstration, they talk more about it on Windows 8 and the Surface tablets than they do about it on the XBox One.
Look at it this way? Last generation, Sony lured me in with flOwer, Little Big Planet, Ratchet & Clank, and many other atypical titles. None of that this time around.
I think I'll pass.
