I've heard it's supposed to be quite good. Not tried it yet though.

I have been using it for a while. Apart from signing issues with MS' own drivers, I preferred it over Vista.

The Release Candidate will be available for public download (like the beta was) on the 5th May so I'd recommend checking it out for yourself.

Can you upgrade from the beta to the RC? I have been using the beta as my primary OS for quite some time, and have no intention of re-installing all my programs again if I have to do a clean install of the RC.
It is, however, very good compared to Vista. I have had no problems with compatability, since most programs that work with Vista work with 7, and it generally consumes less RAM and CPU when idle (down from 45% of 2GB RAM in Vista to ~20% when idling on desktop.)

yes you can upgrade in place but it's not really advised, it's always better to start from fresh when installing.

im avoiding it after my experiences with Vista. Once SP1 is out, then I might give it a look

I would advise giving the RC a go. Seriously, you shouldn't have nearly as many issues as you did with Vista.

Vista destroyed gaming at launch. So many issues and it took months to fix them. I think it was just Microsoft forcing PC users onto xbox...*shudders*

It's odd, I never really had any problems at all with Vista... but that said, I was using all new hardware so I didn't have to mess around with shitty driver support from the hardware companies.

I like Vista. Never had any problems with it at all. Windows 7's supposed to be great. I probably will switch over, but I've got no need to at the moment.
