Should I buy the movie from iTunes, or is it pants?
Wreck-It Ralph(9 posts)
Wreck-It-Ralph is... kind of absolutely fucking awesome.
It's a genuinely geeky gaming homage, while still being hilariously funny and a great story in its own right. The gaming references and nods are all over the place. Some are right in your face. while others you have to look out for.
It never feels forced or tacked on though.
First 20 mins are geek fan service. The rest of the movie is simply a great animated CG movie. And the little-girl character that the trailer makes out to look bratty and annoying is actually pretty fantastic.
Bonus points on your purchase if it includes the "Paperman" CG-short that was shown in theatres. Very very good.
It's really good. That Paperman thing Joe mentioned is incredible too
You'll fucking love it. I certainly did. And you'll spend the whole thing naming characters :)
I never saw it in the cinema so haven't seen the Paperman short, so I think I'll be catching that up!
Dude, get it ASAP. It's not about the game cameos but an animated film based on more fictionalized rules of arcade. It is beautiful, mostly funny and even a bit heartfelt.
LOVE Wreck-it-Ralph and still think it was robbed of an oscar (Brave was decent but nothing special).
Thanks for the feedback, guys.
Dunno if I'm getting too old but it didn't float my boat. I did like the video game references though, naturally.
It's a movie for children, with a lot of videogame references, but the story feels kind of been there done that, just like the humor. Just isn't enough to make me care for any of the character or the plot.
I don't like animation films. They always feel the same. Always for children and not really for adults.
