Did anybody else here buy/play Fracture (and not just the demo)? I'm three levels in and having a great time - what are other people's thoughts?
Anybody else play Fracture?

I just posted the following on Rllmuk actually:
Yes, I finished it. I nearly chucked it in quite early on, but after you leave that monotonous factory near the start of the game, it actually picks up. The combat is weak as vegan piss, but somehow the terrain deformation gimmick and a few choice locations pull it back from the brink.
As you say, the driving bits kept things flowing, and the difficulty level was consistently challenging, but never punishing (save for the final boss) which certainly counted in it's favour.
I also liked how it drip fed you a new abilities and weapons right up until the final few levels. The vortex grenade was fun, as was the rock magnet rifle. They did a lot more with it all than many really gave them credit for, but when the core action was so dreary, it's hardly surprising that it was met with such critical indifference.
It can be had for peanuts these days too.

I played the demo of this and quite enjoyed it, so I decided to buy it until I saw the review scores and changed my mind.

G1GAHURTZ, are you the kind of person who goes purely by reviews? Sometimes it's best to see if you like the game before going by what the reviews say.

Yeah, I mostly go by reviews.
It's only a decision that I've made through experience though. At one stage I would consider reviews to be a rough guide that wouldn't necessarily reflect my own opinion, but a few things caused me to change my mind.
I'm not entirely sure which game it was, and it may even have been more than one, but I once bought a game knowing that it had gotten a bad review(s). I then played that game, hated it, wondered why I wasted my money and went back and read the review(s) again.
On re-reading one particular review, I suddenly realised that all of the really annoying, frustrating stuff that I hated about the game had been mentioned, and the reviewer had been totally justified in what they had written.
Since then, any game whose review(s) mentions the word(s) annoying, frustrating, boring or tedious in regards to gameplay, I don't buy. Iirc, something along these lines has been mentioned about the later stages of Fracture.
