I will predict Halo because of brand name.
Which Will Sell Most Halo Wars Or Killzone 2?

Possibly, but it's also a console RTS, which isn't really a genre you find the average Halo player playing.

You put too much faith in the brand name. So do most companies really. I bet it'll sell about 300,000 copies. Killzone is an FPS and has all the fanboys whipped up into a frenzy so should do pretty well.

Still they are saying this is a very user friendly rts and I am actually thinking about getting it as I enjoyed halo 3.

I enjoyed Halo 3 (somewhat) and I love RTS, but it's going to be something totally different by a Developer who has no console history at all.

Yes I know bungie are not making this one but just in sales I was thinking.
I mean I have seen the KZ2 footage and read reviews and it looks like it is going to be excellent.Posted 4 years ago # -
I would be surprisd if Halo wars sold a ton of copies.
FPS games are very popular, RTS games not so much, at least on consoles.
I think Killzone 2 will beat Halo wars in the long run.
None of the big Halo fans I know are getting it.Posted 4 years ago # -
If you are just counting first week(end) sales then I'd say KillZone2 but long term (this year) I'd say Halo Wars.

Killzone 2 will outsell not only Halo Wars, but SFIV as well. The only real challenger to K2 in Q1 is Resident Evil 5.
Oh, and those are just fact numbers. K2 is number one on amazon.com, x-play (or whatever), gamestop and other stores I haven't mentioned. Well I think it is number 2 in amazon, (Wii Fit is beating it). Another thing is while this is "online" numbers, K2's demo is running out around my GameStop stores and they're only giving them out to the people who pre-ordered them first.
But hey, who wouldn't want such a beautiful, destructive, realistic game?! =)

Both really they are coming out the same time I think.
I imagine MS will bust there buns to rain on Sony's parade.Posted 4 years ago # -
Short-term: Killzone 2
Long-term: Halo WarsPosted 4 years ago # -
Heavily hyped and critically acclaimed FPS vs a console RTS. I wonder...

I think Halo 3 OSDT (or whatever) will most likely outsell K2. K2 will probably rule until Halo 3's expansion comes out. Halo Wars just .... doesn't cut it.

ODST will sell gangbusters. No question.

I'm interested to see how RE5 sells. The demo seems to have put a lot of people off.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I reckon it'll do millions. I can't see how it won't, to be honest, no matter what the reviews say.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Do you mean RE5 Pat?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Probably Killzone 2.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Killzone 2 without a doubt. Now if it was ODST your were talking about then that might be a different kettle of kippers.

Im going to go with Daddy.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Halo Wars short term (ie, first week of each being on sale), but over a few months, KZ2.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I actually meant RE5, but I'd be very surprised if K2 didn't do more than 2 million all told.
Posted 4 years ago # -
KZ2 without a shadow of a doubt. No question, no debate. KZ2 should break 2 mil, I'd be flabbergasted if Halo Wars even managed 1 mil.

In 12 days Halo 3 sold 3.3 million. KZ doesn't have that level of fan base IMO. I reckon it'll do 2 million in a month.
But of these 3.3 million Halo purchases, IMO at least half will buy Halo Wars.
It'll be a lot closer than the Sony camp think. LBP fell (relativly speaking) flat on it's face, and I don't think KZ2 is going to be *quite* as big as hoped for them.

Killzone 2, RTS on consoles is still a very small niché in the gaming world. Being Halo it will help though and it'll do better than other RTS' we've seen on consoles so far.

Conisdering Killzone 2 has over 1 million pre-orders in Europe plus more undisclosed in North America and crtically acclaimed reviews mostly from media and gamers compared to a game which hasnt had alot of reviews come in yet as well as it not gonna sell well to the main series despite the brand name...
Killzone 2 is the obvious winner here.
It will sell over a million at least for the month (although considering it's late February release in the US, an NPD apparence could be shaky) and more in the long term.
It will outsell bighitters like Halo Wars and Street Fighter IV with the only real competition from Resident Evil 5 but even then, it will still sell well.
Come the Autumn though when ODST comes out, things will change, dramaticlly or not, that remains to be seen.

Halo Wars has no chance of outselling KZ2, especially in the short to mid-term. The console-playing masses just aren't turned on by RTS games. Straightforward shooters are more their cup o' tea by far.
