Ok, first let me say the game is gorgeous, but this is an example of gorgeous graphics, and that is about it.
You can definitely see the Kojima influences, but that is about it.
Gabriel has a skidding problem, he just can't stop. This is very noticeable in the bog, where you tend to slide off a rock right into poisonous gas. I had one particular problem where I would jump out of the gas, onto a single rock, to only slide off the other side, back into the poisonous gas.
The game play ratio to cut-scene ratio is disproportionate. You play for 3-5 minutes then watch a cut-scene movie. It seems right when things are picking up, your taken out. It gets quite irritating, I found myself saying to the TV, can I just play please?
The game itself wears very thin, and right from the start. One moment your playing a Darksiders game riding your horse, then next your playing God of War, then your playing Dante, agonizing over the past. There is nothing new here.
Graphical Glitches, there aren't too many, but when there are you notice quite a bit. I've had the game actually freeze and then glitch with frame-rate, even installed. This may be just because the 360 can't handle the graphics as it is getting long in the tooth?
Camera, OMG, this may be the worst thing ever. I don't think Castlevania can ever get this right in a 3D world. You can't control the camera at all. You will find yourself running through a scene to only have the Camera Flip, which of course requires you to change the direction of the thumb-stick, instead you end up back-tracking on accident backwards. I don't know if controlling the camera would have given you any better aspects, but it sure would have been nice to give you the option to control the camera, or leave it to the game.
I HIGHLY regret buying this game at full price of $65.00! I based it on the Kojima named, thinking they would never allow their name to be attached to anything that wasn't Triple A and Top Notch, sadly I was wrong!
They really could have called this anything else, but not a Castlevania game. Purists will dislike this game right away, but not being one of those I was looking forward to just a Top Notch game. I smiled with glee when I saw how gorgeous it was, but that quickly wore off and became a frown as I got into the meat of the gameplay.
These are just my opinions, as usual, but wow, I should have waited and at least bought it later when it dropped to $29.99
