Vanquish Better on PS3 than 360, IMO

Ok, I don't want to start a war, but here goes:

I downloaded the Demo on my PS3 and 360 and have been playing them both, and I noticed some differences.

Graphics: Graphics were the biggest noticeably difference. On the PS3, the colors were more vibrant, had more depth, and seemed much brighter, almost giving it a wet look. The Xbox color palette seemed dulled and faded, almost Xbox 1 color scheme, which is weird because I have seen the same kind of wet looking color in Gears 2. So to mine, and my wife's naked eye, the PS3 won.
WINNER: PS3

Frame-rate: I couldn't tell any difference between PS3 and 360
WINNER: TIE

Controls: The controls seemed tighter and more responsive on the Xbox 360 vs the PS3. I can't give a scientific reason, but the controls seemed better on the 360, so if I had to choose just on controls, I would pick the 360
WINNER: 360

Ok the above is just my opinion. The only real thing my wife could tell was the graphics between the 2, and said the PS3 version looked much better.

Ok, I am a Graphics whore, So I really want the best looking version, so you would think I would want the PS3 version. The problem is, I prefer a Gamer Score and Achievements over PS3 Trophies and Ranking. On top of that I have many more friends in my friends list on the 360 than PS3.....So I will buy it on the Xbox 360, and then when it goes cheap I will also buy the PS3 version, and enjoy it again.

Ok I can hear your fingers cracking wanting to type and give me your opinion, and I welcome them. Just Remember this is just my opinion, not a scientific research firms years of studies...LOL. I want to read what others think because I may be missing things, and will gladly go back and look. One thing, I am going to be playing this demo over and over again.

So what do the rest of you think???? (Please No Trolls and No Flaming..Thanks)

Why would it start a war? The PS3 was the lead platform for Vanquish so I'd hope it had at least some advantages because of it.

You might be pleased to know that there is a scientific reason why they are more responsive on the 360 version. PS3 version is triple buffered, so you get similar control lag to KZ2. 360 version uses the more commonly used double buffering.

I've seen many comments on color differences between 360 and PS3 versions of multiplat games. It boils down to the consoles settings. It's nothing to do with the game itself as both versions use the same assets.

The sticks on the 360 controller always have an edge for me control wise.

Colour differences wouldn't just be down to settings. The base assets may be the same but the filters, effects applied on top will be different and potentially have a different end result. The wet look you noted could well be to do with the way bump mapping is done on the PS3 GPU. I does tend to give that sort of look - and normally it's a less sophisticated end result than the 360 for me.

Mainly all academic for me though as I didn't really like the game :D

There is no lag. They placed the camera on the torso, thats why it feels like it's "lagging" for your information. They didn't develop separate camera like in Battlefield, CoD, MoH or other FPS games.
What you read in the Eurogamer DF is about fps.

@DrDamn, yeah, Deadzone in the Torso. It was FINE in Killzone 2, don't understand casual audience that want Devs to reconstruct it because of precise shit stuff like in CoD.

Multiplayer will have a separate camera thingy.

@Gadzooks, it's Not LAG you idiot. It's how it's done with the controls. Killzone 2 is NOT made on the ID Tech 3 that never uses camera on torso.

Lag called by stupid people that know nothing about fps gaming. Killzone 2 uses Dead zone (camera on torso) for the effect that you have a gun in your arms.

Read linked articles or do some research. Controller lag is pretty fundamental stuff. You have no excuse for being ignorant of it, and the more you protest it doesnt exist the more stupid you look.

It's not called lag noob. It's how it is. It's how developers made a feel of the gunning in the game. I have no problems playing with CoD controls, Battlefield controls or Killzone 2 controls in multiplayer. They have each own thing. All of them are perfect in it's own section.

for the second time it's not called LAG. It's how the game is DONE. When you press the "shoot" button it takes second or more till your gun will be in your eye sight. Game is done this way by using camera on torso, because your character do all the movement, not the additional separate camera resources. Like in CoD or your Halo for example.
Halo FYI have the worst controls btw. It's absolutely precise (that is boring), except that the feel is arcadish, it's even worse than in the Source engine games. At least they anknowledged dispersion and other stuff.

and this topic has nothing to do with the Vanquish. You are same as stupid as before. Like with topic where Xbox 360 version supports more 3D than PS3 (but after that there was a hillarious link about Invincible Tiger 3D from Namco Bandai that supports some TV's. that was epic.)

there is even a video of Killzone 2 in the DF. They are showing you whats happening. Thats normal for the FPS type as Killzone 2 or any other FPS that uses a deadzone in the torso.

Anyway, back to Vanquish.

Having played both versions, I can definitely agree. The PS3 version appears to be that little bit sharper. It'll always boil down to the controls at the end of the day for me though, and the 360 controller wins out in this respect for me.

So at the end of the day, if you're a multi-platform owner, and I'd say with whichever console has the controller you prefer. The experience is largely identical whichever you choose.

i Liked the 360 version better for some reason. I just think the 360 controller felt better for this game to me. Usually i prefer PS3 anything over 360 but again, for some reason i prefered the 360 version of this game.

Yes i know, just seems a bit bland but like i said these kind of games should be played more then once so ill try playing it a different way before i make a judgement. So far not impressed, its more mad Mikami then genius Mikami.

I couldn't beat the demo on normal, I had to go to easy...and still had a tough time. Boss Fights seem like they will be multiple stages...but I like that...the only thing I don't like is when the boss transforms and you die, you reload the check-point that takes you back to before the boss transformed.

Why are people finding this so hard on Normal? I'm not the best games player by a *long* shot, and I breezed through it.

All you need to do is keep moving, use your drift as often as you're able to avoid the "bullet hell" showers of missiles, and take out the core. You can take out the first part (the spider form) in less than a minute if you use slow mo and aim straight for the core.

I dont think its too hard. Normal was fine but like others have said dont stay still and just keep moving. Its designed to be frantic so thats how you have to play it.
I just noticed the XBL demo is almost half the size of the PSN version. Thats a HUGE difference.

Even Drifting as you put it, when that spider turns into a Robot and shoots out its Chest Laser, if it hits you, even drifting your dead. It kills you in one shot. I am just glad they have an easy mode, like Bayonetta had...so those of us challenged folks can enjoy it too!! But Vanquish Gods like O'Connor can put it on NIGHTMARE when it comes out and not finish it in a few seconds...I just like the fact that Platinum Games thinks of us Casual Gamers and you Hard Core Gamers!!! O'Connor when it comes out play in NIGHTMARE mode and YouTube it...I would love to see someone Sweep through it in NIGHTMARE mode...ROFL!!

Hahaha. Vanquish God? I like the sound of that. I can't even get a time bonus on the demo level.

That laser is a breeze as long as you don't burn out your charge and hold on to it for when you need it. It takes ages to charge up, and there's plenty of sound and visual cues. I did actually die about three times my first time through normal, but I just kept at it until I beat it. One death shouldn't convince you to lower the difficulty!

I will definitely be trying it out on the higher difficulties. That's gonna be where the real fun lies! Still making my way through Bayonetta on hard.

Wow Bayonetta on hard...No way...I went to easy Auto for me. For me its more about enjoying the story and the entire ride of the game, and visuals...I guess someone like you its more about, blood pouring from bruised thumbs and knuckles the size of Walnuts as you sweat gallons of teen spirit trying to beat a boss?? I Salute You :)

Though isn't it Nice that this game will include both styles of game play for both of us?
