What's the worst game you've ever paid money for and then wished you hadn't?
Mine is Crash of the Titans on 360.
Must be the most repetetive, annoying game in the world.
EVER!
Plus you can't even skip the cut scenes, which are annoyingly long and about as funny as a kick in the shins.
Stay well clear of it if you're ever tempted.

Anyways, my pick is Far Cry 2.
Its not the worst game in the world but it seriously gets too repetetive. Start mission, at checkpoints you get shot at, drive, get shot at, drive, drive, do mission, fin.
Yeah, that's the one. I played the Mac demo and thought it was quiet good, then years later I bought the full version for the PS2 and was shocked how badly the camera and overall controls were compared to the computer version.

I can't believe it actually came up when I googled it. It cost me about £8 and was, categorically, shit.
Amazingly I can't think of one. I'm sure there were some back in the mists of time... but none recently I can think of.

that's because I'm really bad at 'real' racing games and only got PGR3 in the hope of playing some games of cat and mouse online (which was fun on PGR2) but then found out that Mini's weren't available out of the box and that everyone else wanted to race properly :(
Blood Omen 2. By jove was it terrbile. Even the people who made it prefer to pretend it never happened.

So I guess I got my own back in a way, I made him more unhappy by buying somethign worthless, and I actually enjoyed the stunted crazy humour with my friends.

Devastation, an Unreal Engine 2 based FPS game. Got 7/10 in GamesTM and I thought, 'why not.' Shame I didn't think 'fuck that' because its graphics were so, so bland and the gameplay so, so mundane and unexciting. Worst of all was friendly AI - the good old 'if friendly guy dies, mission failed' game design that everyone loves to hate is present and correct. And the third mission is set on top of a load of rooftops. With 2 AI following you. And they always, always jump off the edge and die.
PAIN. And I mean that in all honesty.

Sim City 2000 on the GBA followed by Sim City DS.
They've just not been well considered enough for the the hardware. For Sim City 2000 on the GBA it's like they crammed the entire 2000 game onto the handheld, realized that it wouldn't run at any sort of playable speed and then proceeded to cut out functionality. The result is a game worse than the original Sim City. I'm sure they ended up re-drawing 50%-70% of the screen because of the overlapping isometric tiles. I'm sure that could have been optimised, as it stands the game crawls slower and slower the bigger your city gets.
BC Racers for the PC back in like 96 I think. Terrible Mario Kart clone.
Or perhaps Star Wars Force Commander - but I think that might of been a Christmas present.

Yes I've got most of the trophies, but only after I realised I had to get SOMETHING for my money.
Condemned 2, Silent Hill: Homecoming (personal hatred for the both of them)and Golden Axe: Beast Rider stink of ill informed decisions.
Also, WHAT!? Oni is a great game!
I loved Oni when I played it on the Mac, not tried the PS2 version though. The mouse and keyboard controls were sublime. I also quite liked Blood Omen 2, but only because I'm a huge fan of the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver series.
I guess the worst game I ever outright bought was either Full Auto or Mortal Kombat vs DC - both were utter tripe.
Worst: Probably Too Human.
Most disappointing is probably the portable Sim Cities as suggested by TW.
