Anyone played it? If so any good?
Kane and lynch 2 demo(8 posts)
I've played for about 2 hours or so. The demo itself is actually quite big in that there is a campaign, arcade mode and 3 online modes.
- The Good
Graphically its actually pretty impressive. Shooting up a DVD store and the contents of the shelves go flying. Some good lighting effects. Well polished cut scenes
The YOUTUBE styling is pretty good. I guss you either love it or loathe it.
There seems to be quite a broad range of weapons to get stuck into and they all feel quite different.
The multiplayer modes offer up some new ways of thinking - stay loyal or not? It actually seems to work too.
AI are quite aggressive and vastly improved from the first.
Theres something not quite right about the whole shooting mechanic. It just doesnt feel solid enough. Its hard to describe but when you shoot it just feels a bit empty. The same can be said from the gameplay in general. It feels a bit 50 Cent Blood on the Sand.
If you enjoyed the first Kane and Lynch (for all its flaws) then you'll def enjoy this. I arent going to bother pre ordering but I will keep an eye out for any deals a few months down the line.
Just played the demo and tbh I didn't like it too much.
Graphics are not great and the voices just don't fit in somehow.
PS 3 version btw.
Tried multi-player but the whole thing seems to freeze when I try to get into a match.
It says looking for games but nothing happens and I have to switch the PS off with the button.
The controller will not do anything no matter which button I press.
Tried it 3 times and then left it at that.
Not for me I'm afraid.
Played it today. The story mode mission is a bit on the short side, didn't bother with the online.
The visuals aren't very detailed sure but the youtube-ey style is really well implemented and the little street shoot out really showed it off.
The cover and shoot mechanic is pretty standard fair but the A.I is surprisingly dynamic, making sure that you can never stay behind one piece of cover for too long.
IO's definitely made a lot of improvements but it still really doesn't look like a must-buy.
Mafia II wins August then...
My thoughts on the demo...
I had ZERO expectations for the Kane and Lynch 2 demo (didn't like first game) and i must say it is very impressive. Constant 60FPS, incredibly smooth, extremely detailed characters, great enviorments, game hooked me instantly. Single player and multiplayer both incredilby well done. Multiplayer feels somehow....fresh.
(only complaint is the pixelation/filter effect - should be option to turn off - actually feel it hurts the graphics rather than helps)
I hear what you're saying dr ghetto and initially at the start of the demo I was thinking this is good but by the time I had finished I was pretty underwhelmed.
Any way just my thoughts on it.
I played the first one for a few missions and was not impressed and I personally don't think there will be a third one.
Sorry but that's the way I came away from it.
I've played the demo twice through now and here's my final thoughts.
1. They need to add heavier rumble to controller when firing weapons. Agree with previous comment on this site that presently weapons feel "weak" when firing. I believe this is due to weak rumble.
2. They need to fix that blocky, "youtube", pixelated graphical look because it's holding the game back imo. Not sure, perhaps it's an issue with my tv...
3. Other than that, I think the demo is pretty impressive especially once you master controls and explore all areas. I also enjoyed the shaky camera effect.
Depending on final product, probably wouldn't pay full price for this game, but $20 off for sure!
Played this recently and its just not up to scratch at all, when compared to the Uncharteds and Gears it just doesnt stand up. A no no for me.
