Here's the deal. Live in the U.S. Want to import SBK-X. My understanding is that it could be a EU or Asian copy and work on my US PS3. Is this true? I thought I'd get PAL so I wouldn't have to worry about translation business.
Secondly, the limited edition comes with a code for free DLC from the PSN Store. Is it possible to attain this DLC with my US PSN account or maybe by way of a PSN account created for the corresponding region?
Any help or info would be appreciated =)
Most are region free. However, some developers put a restriction on it and employ region codes.
Chances are it's region free. If you can try and find out first.
You will probably have to create an EU account to redeem the voucher code
....try it on your US account first... if it doesn't work, you'll have an EU account to fall back on

All PS3 games are region free - there have been no boxed games which are region locked. The parts which you may have issues with are paid for DLC. As mentioned above creating an account for free DLC should be ok.
In a few cases the multiplayer aspect will be region locked
So in a sense the game itself may not be...but the online component will be

“PLAYSTATION 3 software is not restricted by region. The majority of games purchased in another country will work on any PLAYSTATION 3 system. However, the decision to make games region specific is made by the publisher of each title and as a result, some games may not work on a PLAYSTATION 3 system purchased in a different country
It's never happened though. The 360 is meant to have a similar system where it is up to the publisher, and there large numbers of games are region locked. The option is obviously there from the FAQ but Sony seem to strongly discourage it.
As DrDamn says it never has happened. DLC was a problem but not any more as lot's of places on the net sell PSN card's for most regions.
Just to follow up. Sbk-x runs wonderfully. Im not going to mess with online. And for the free day one DLC, I had to create an EU PSN ID. Once downloaded and installed works on all my profiles. Im most happy. Thank you all for your knowledge.
