I have to say, for the first time as a gamer, the choice isn't clear to me what console at launch I would want, if any..... I bought a playstation, Dreamcast, Xbox, and Xbox 360 at launch, it was easy as i knew what i wanted, not really sure right now.
I am very unhappy with the media focus of the Xbox One, required Kinect, The spin MS is spouting regarding used games rather than just come out and get it out in the open, and that they went for a less powerful box this time due to the media focus. However, I love Halo, Fable, Crackdown, etc. It would be hard to not be tempted for those games.
I didn't own a PS3 and so Sony's franchises aren't as tempting to me, except for some games that might have started in the Playstation days. The PS4's 33% more power and 50% more shader performance is nothing to sneeze at (per Anandtech) and I love the gamer focus. I prefer the Xbox controller but like the share button and features of Sony's new controller.
I guess E3 will be the deciding factor, as it is for many of us i'm sure.
I need to know more about each console, and the games, and if PS4 is going the same way regarding used games. If Sony isnt going the same direction (and I suspect they are) then the SP4 is the obvious choice unless Xbox One has some amazing exclusive. It looks like the PS4 will end up the main development system and then games ported down to the Xbox One. Third party games will most likely run and play better on Ps4 and that is something to consider as well.
I'm glad I have a decent PC, I love Steam, and I don't see that changing.
I thought buying the next xbox at launch would be a no brainer, but its not the case.
