@freedoms_stain: Kiting is no problem in 99% of dungeon crawlers. I've been playing them since before sprites were used and it works fine in others. In this game, levels are covered with trigger points that dump a half dozen or more guys on you at once, and they will chase you literally forever. Basically it's the roguelike equivalent of a kill closet. Besides, what I'm talking about is when you're between clusters of guys with enough HP to take one hit before you die. Not having any means of healing in that situation leaves a visible gap in the game's design that can only be filled by... money.

You heal by killing stuff. If you're having problems in that regard, learn to kite better.

And you know what?? He answered:

Pwndius,

So much to respond to! I've brushed my teeth repeatedly, the spinach seems to be permanent.

If you've played with the Nexus lately, you know that there's nothing like Akaneiro out there for you. And I agree, F2P has been poorly implemented, greedy, horrible, but we're going to do it right. If you don't want to play small amounts or grind you don't have to: you can just pay $20 to unlock all maps and bam, no more micro-transactions.

We're not D3. There's no auction house, we're not trying to nickle-and-dime. We just want people to be able to play for free if they choose, to pay if they can.

And yea, our tiers ended up sucking towards the end because so many people asked for so many things. Here's a link with everything clear INCLUDING a picture of the Phantom City poster.

https://sites.google.com/site/kickstartertiers/

Thanks for the second chance.

Cheers!

I agree about F2P games. I played the beta for this and saw... a shoddy attempt at a Diablo clone with issues like players freezing solid until killed, enemies attacking from inside objects so they can't be reached, disconnecting while playing, and that was just one session.

But what I really noticed was... No heal potions, no regeneration, no healing. So ideally, you kill some stuff and heal at a good enough rate to break even, or get hurt a bit and find stuff in baskets and chests to top you up. Or other times... get severely injured, there's nothing to pick up, there's no way to recover HP, so do you give up and get no XP, fight until dead and go back to town, and get no XP, or pay an ever increasing amount of karma to res? I don't know what it's like at higher levels, but what I see coming is inescapable deaths and the necessity of spending real money to make progress. Nope - keep the game. I'll buy a game and play it fairly, or play a game for free, but I'm not going to pay an unknown amount of extortion money just to get through a game that I've already dumped tons of hours into. It smells like a scam.

I canceled my Akaneiro Kickstarter Pledge and got this:

"Former Backer, Potential Future Backer or Person we’ve Hired Ninjas to Hunt,

We saw you canceled your pledge and we’d like to know why. Perhaps you spent all your money on the latest piece of evil from Activision or Electronic Arts? Or found out you have another illegitimate child running around the Kentucky countryside. Perhaps your Porsche needs new Perelli’s? Or your dog needs braces? In case any of these more personal issues are the reason, feel free to keep that info to yourself and move along. We understand. And we don’t need to know the details. Unless those details are really juicy, in which case…

On the other hand, if it’s something we did, let us know! Were our updates devoid of useful info? Did the reward tier structure cause confusion and rage? Perhaps you think the game just sucks? Maybe the requests for new and unique items are overwhelming; we’ve done our best to accommodate where possible by pulling Alice: Madness Returns goodies out of the closet but I wonder if this has diluted the focus on Akaneiro? Or was it something else? Body odor? Spinach between my teeth?

Let us know!

Insert Witty Salutation Here,
-American"

And I answered this (if you care):

Hi,
at first it was definitely spinach between your teeth. The other thing is, that I canceled it just for..I dont know. To show this game to my girl, asking her if she wants to play it with me and maybe to spend moneyzzz again. But well...listen mate:

In the last 3 weeks I used my new Nexus 7 like hell. I downloaded a lot of different stuff like..useful apps and OFC as hardcore gamer..games. Somehow I dont like the F2P model. And yes I spent money on some games. It tells you to be nice, but in the end you have to pay a lot and get fucked up by the devs/pubs. Its not that I dont want to pay, but..well, I have the same worse feeling I had when I played Diablo 3 and the shitty auction house was there. The devs had the power to regulate what is dropping and when items are dropping. And when you got shitty items, you went into the Real-Money Action House and bought stuff. I mean you say "evil from Acti or EA". Sure that you will never get there? We have politicians here in Germany who sat in the dirt for their ideals, where activists in their young ages. And now they are fat, rich and dont even fucking care about their ppl and old ideals when they sit in their big cars. What I want to say is, I would spend some money in seconds, when I would be sure that I dont have to pay the same amount like in a full price game or a mmo-subbed game, where I know what content and how much of it I can expect for my money. What do you expect from the F2P system? How much I have to spend in the game to get everything or at least a good experience? "Its the future." The ass my future.

The other thing is...you have the most fucked up confusing pledge system EVEEEERRRRR.
Mate...how can it be: "previous tiers are not included", "will be not included in following tiers",
"this tier will be only included in the next tier when you see a tire in a tire on the last tier", "the tier 3 armor is broken", "checking the tires makes me tired". This shit is confusing. ANd thefuck, I missed the japanese Alice Artbook ffs. Now I haz sad ;((((

Anyway, I will give Akaneiro a chance and pledge again and hope that this game succeeds and that all ppl have fun. And it would be nice to see a single-player game on consoles again. I liked Alice 1 + 2, Scrapland and Bad Day L.A.

Cheers and good luck you crazy fucker!

P.S: How does the Alice: MR "Phantom City" Poster look like?
