I can't stop playing it, I've finally mastered that parry mode thing, but that wolf/dog thing stills kick my ass at times. But I can't get enough when you cut his ass into little pieces., you got to love PG games.

Also how do you killed that damn ninja cat? ;)

It matters when the result looks the way it does.

His feet? You mean because he's wearing highheels? That's not really comparable to the problem i have with the game.

If it wasn't for the design, he wouldn't use his sword via his feet. Personally i still don't understand why they did this. Why not just give him more arms? :D

Anyway, the character designer can only do so much. He brings his vision (or the art-director vision) on the paper and then it goes to the 3D Graphic Artists. AND THIS is where it all goes bad.

But fuck it. There does seem to be enough costumes to make me happy.

Maybe i'll play Sombrero Raiden:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tKPJcTLq6TI/UN4O7kfkHtI/AAAAAAAABWw/reNy2-UZWRQ/s1600/MGSSOP_MGRSpecial_05_MGSTV.jpg

And i totally forgot that there's going to be a MGS4 skin, probably made by a talented person:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ny0UFiKxuR0/UPrFKgqugYI/AAAAAAAACPQ/T5lr1nqBH4I/s1600/MGR_MGS4Raiden_MGSTV.jpg

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_5BoMT9ZDNc/UPJx7WRjY2I/AAAAAAAACAo/GPkbeMRHGRY/s1600/MGR_MGS4Raiden_Trailer_Pic02_MGSTV.jpg

See, those legs look right. That Silhouette is sexy.

This chubby legged kid isn't:

http://s3.gamefreaks.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/raidenrisingrender1.png

Hmmm I don't feel text book really matters. It's more about designing a character that works with it's said abilities. For instance, as much as people hate the way his feet look. If it wasn't for that design he would need hands for feet. I don't know about you but monkey feet look disgusting XD.

Also, isn't the art style still in Kojimas studio as a joint collaboration?

When it comes to character design I am a firm believer in letting the artist create their vision and then to let the viewer interpret the choices. Followed by artist interviews explaining their choices of course.

It still looks like shit though. One of the first things you learn as a designer; if the silhouette doesn't work, nothing about the character will.

And Raiden has a damn ugly silhouette. I know he has those jumper things on his lower legs attached, but they make it look like the lower and upper leg parts have the same width. A little bit tweaking here and there and it would look nice again.

Right now it simply doesn't and i know they won't change that. I really hope the DLC costumes deliver.

But that's Platinum Games for you, not known for a good art-direction. I mean they even managed to make Gray Fox look like a pumped up Cyborg. No elegance, no lovely silhouette.

^ for the anatomy part. I don't think it really matters when he has a completely remade cybernetic body. Only things that's him is his brain, face and probably heart. That's about all that's human

Man, the demo was extremely though. Had a blast playing it. Still don't understand how to properly fight a Geeko though, you can't seem to parry their attacks.

Anyway, i really hope the Ninja Run is unfinished and much more fluid in the final game. You can't wall run sideways, you can't jump and wall run straight and jumping itself feels terrible.

The gameplay doesn't seem to have that much depth either, a lot of button mashing.

In all seriousness though? I don't care. The gameplay is just way too much fun.

Edit: Oh and the game is fucking ugly. It's really, really ugly. And i'm not talking about texture size or anything like that. The models look cartoony, the Doktor looks like the Frankenstein Monster, the female assistant like a doll, the black guy like a caricature. The russian, who can't even pronounce tovarish right is the only normal looking person.

Raiden itself looks terrible, his legs are the biggest problem. It's like the 3D artist doesn't understand what the human anatomy looks like.

And those fucking colors. It looks like brown shit with a blue flower growing out of it. Not nice.

That really, really bothers me enough to grant this game a rent and maybe a sale-buy, but definitely not Day-1. The Gray Fox skin is something to look forward too though.

It's a lot of fun to play, unlike previous metal gear games.

Love the cutting! I couldn't believe it when I slashed the trees and walkway on the beach into hundreds of pieces. Very clever tech, and bound to be a hot ticket next gen.

I had no problem with the camera. Just don't use the left (camera) stick while in blade mode.

I'm happy enough with the visuals. 60 fps more than makes up for the lack of shinies.

Its not a block its a parry, you can parry in front behind and it either left or right depending on where the attack is coming from. Its a more fluid method of defense rather than the Gaiden style hold down black then flick to face whatever direction the attack is coming from.

There also a side step move.

I can spare them the lesser graphics due to the game running at 60FPS, I'll deal much like people deal with CoD looking like ass.

Wall running has been in a official gameplay video, its more than likely got something to do with it being an older build of the game.

Ninja run in combat and jump parry respost Geckos to stun them setting up a Zandatsu and a quick kill and heal.

I think the game is trapped between idiots thinking its an actual Metal Gear game and idiots thinking its going to Ninja Gaiden in Metal Gear clothes. I don't think its going to be that easy to pin down.

The controls are pretty weird (forward square is block? Why?), the camera can seriously suck massive balls at points in the demo, the visuals are outlandishly bad (at some points the environments looked like something i'd expect to see on PS2) and i was disappointed to see that the great ninja that is Raiden cant interact with walls (no wall run, jumping off walls) or really jump that high (no double jump?) but overall it was pretty decent. I doubt it'll be setting the world on fire but the cut mechanic works and its fun to use.

Yea the camera is way fucked up. Playing this with the 360 controller is going to be a chore because it takes some getting use to with the DualShock. I'm playing the PS3 version Lex. The game just isn't all that like I hoped it would be. Its mediocre with MGS skin attached. Ground Zeros will be where its at.

In the very beginning I watched my friend cut that walk way right before the first 3 enemies. Which version you playing Tea?

I couldn't cut just these street lamps, if you enter in the vision where you can see enemies and what to cut, it shows you can cut the pole, but it don't work and there's a problem with the camera when battling those giant two leged things(I never played 4, don't know what they are called), it aims to the ground everytime I enter balde mode with them in sight. Anyway, just a scratch in this rare gem. I wasn't sure if I was going to buy it, but now I'm totally sure.

I just played it.....I want snake back NOW! Welcome to Metal Ninja Gaiden everyone :( I mean its ok but it doesn't feel like anything cool and new. Seriously it feels like a Ninja Gaiden game wrapped in Metal Gear skin/Universe. I want to see these new upgrades he gets later in the game because that sword alone just ins't that powerful.

I hate that he can't double jump off of things like walls to reach higher locations. I hate that you're put in this world where your blade is suppose to cut any and everything but I couldn't cut a beam down to collapse a walkway. Graphics are meh (cause of you know who system) and a robot dog with a chainsaw tail thats supposedly is so smart he can't even answer a simple question.

I'm sorry but I'll be waiting for this to drop in price and in the mean time be playing the HD collection and going back to MGS4 for the trophies.

I really liked it. It took me a bit of time to get the hang of how to counter but once I did it was cool.

I did spend a fair bit of time dicing trees into a thousand pieces... And concrete pillars... And steel bridges... Oh, and dudes too.

Yeah, the game is fun. Might get it on release.

First of all, that demo was way too short. By the time you've wrapped your head around the new control scheme, it's over lol. I immediately restarted, skipped all the cutscenes and got straight back into the combat, and booooooooi that combat.

It feels sublime, above and beyond my expectations. The first time you use blade mode, it's a serious 'HOLY SHIT' moment. Especially when you realise you don't just control the angle of the sword but also THE MOMENTUM! This is the closest I've EVER felt to actual swordplay in a videogame.

Plus it's so refreshing to have open-ended environments where you can look at a scenario from the distance and choose exactly how you want to handle a situation. Do you want to sneak around them from the back and stealth-kill the tougher enemies, would you rather go in balls-out and kill everything in sight, or just lop off the legs and hands of the smaller enemies leaving them helpless, while you focus your skills on the bigger guys. So much replay value here, it's absolutely a genius combination of MG Solid fundamentals and action game mechanics. This is an evolution here, and I can only imagine where the final product will go.

It's also refreshing to play a game that isn't afraid to have depth and kick my ass. And man, it does both quite well. I guarantee by the 4th time you try the demo, you'll be able to parry and demolish like a pro. The sense of accomplishment is real too, this is not an easy game. So when you do triumph, you'll wanna take a bow.

As Clupula said, I'm on official media blackout for this game too. I want to be "Wowed" as much as possible when I play the final game. Meanwhile, I'll be waiting on my pre-order copy. Platinum Games I salute you. Oh yeah, and the story seems interesting as well lol.

Once you nail how to parry and side-step is becomes a completely different game. Seriously is completely alters how you approach most encounters. You can go through the entire demo without taking a single hit because almost everything can be parried. Parrying in the air, making moo moos dizzy then chopping them into bits.

Also the joy at realising that you can use the buttons in "Slicing-time" and just going nuts with it. Quick reactions for gaining back health aswell is a nice touch.

I loved it. I have it on order for the 360 but I might get the demo tonight and swap pre-order quickly.

I do the same thing. I played tutorial up to the gekkos. I don't tend to play demos all the way because I hate losing the desire to play. Especially if the demo is alpha build

I loved it, for the most part, but I played it back when it was part of the Z.O.E. Collection. However, I found the music boring and I really hope you earn a double jump at some part of the game. Other than that, can't wait for it. On official trailer blackout for the last month and a half, so as to avoid story spoilers.
