If you are a PC gamers you prolly aren't going to be as impressed as someone that has only played on consoles.</p> <p>It is like only letting a gamer play on a NES. Yes, but because this gen has lasted well beyond it's years, PC has taken a huge lead that the consoles won't be able to catch up to it. I have been a hardcore consoler since the 80's (Atari 2600). Have also gamed on PC (med/high end)since then as well. I have never seen such a gap between the two. </p> <p>For years, the PC has been ahead in raw power and upgrades continually, but PC gamers were left with, well....PC games. RPG, FPS, and RTS games reigned supreme for many years, but the consoles got all the attention with cool adventure games and platformers. Then even stealing the show with their own FPS games and open world structures, leaving the PC with shoddy ports. </p> <p>Two years ago I would have said, "[pick a console] wins this gen." Next gen could have been launched with GTX 500 series comparable machines. Yet the big 3 dropped the ball and let PC get better gamepad support with the 360 controller integrated into many games and viable marketing/delivery tools, such as GOG, Desura, Steam and-dare I say-Origin. Prices are lower, games are plenty, portable across different machines, and ports are better. Easy access to my television from the PC gives me a comfortable, on the couch, consolesque feel with all my full PC apps at my finger tips. Heck, even multiple screen gaming. Had that for years (e.g. Supreme Commander dual screen is awesome). I like talking to my Xbox (Kinect), pointing lasers at my screen (Wii), waving glowing ice cream cones in front of my face (Move), and even going karaoke on my machine (Sing Star); but it wasn't enough. </p> <p>I started this gen with a PS3, X360, and a Q6600/GTX 8800 rig. All pretty comparable machines really. I shall finish this gen with two PS3's, a X360, a wii, and an i7/660ti rig. </p> <p>So really, the question remains: With GTX 700/HD8000 series cards just over the horizon, how will the next gen consoles start the next round? Will they already be left in the dust, or will they wow us again? For the Master Race has waited in the shadows for too long. It has begun it's descent upon the console plebs.
