This was one of them. A superb demonstration of how to marry solid, fun gameplay mechanics with art and story. This year's Bioshock.</p> <p>3. Hotline Miami<br /> I played more indie games in this one year than I think I've ever played before. Most were great in their own right, but this one tops the lot for me. Journey</p> <p>The experience I had with Journey was nothing short of tremendous. On a game level I found it to be perfect. No bugs, scripting errors, graphical glitches, precise controls, splendid animation..even the online component is seamless and did nothing to hinder the experience. The night it came out I sat down for 2 and a half hours and was completely immersed. My emotions ran high. I shit myself the first time I discovered a sentinel. Having experienced that and most of the game with my online companion, I almost broke down in panic when they were blown away due to a poorly timed run, only to discover they were ok and relief settled back in. The game is a master piece in my eyes. Visually, mechanically, and musically its of the best games I've ever played. Tied with Shadow of the Colossus for me.</p> <p>I'll post my 2 &amp; 3 picks soon.
