I've had a bit of trouble getting into games (I've only tried like 3 times, and only the 1 was successful), but when I did it seems pretty fun. Was playing on Vita so it was a little confusing at times as to what the hell was going on, so I think I'd prefer to play on my big screen. Dodging was my focus, and it's pretty satisfying side-stepping another character only to grab them or unleash a super-attack.

Not really my sort of game to be honest, but I'll pick it up at some point to play local MP.

Looks lovely on the Vita OLED, as you'd expect.

Netcode is the biggest deal breaker for me. I have to wait for like 5 minutes just to get in the game and then it freezes. This problem is most likely not affecting eu/us/japan customers, so most people shouldnt take this a big deal. But after playing wipeout 2048 and unit 13 multiplayer/co-op on vita smoothly, I expected better.
As mojo said, I too have noticed some players not moving a bit in beta. I hope this gets fixed.

"If I have to point out anything, it will be the netcode. Granted, I dont have a awesome connection, but I was able to play wipeout 2048 without much troubles. The netcode felt completely broken to me on vita. Can anyone else share opinions on vita version? "

I have a farily bad, realy bad internet connection, but i can still play near to all games online without problems, including fast paced racers (motorstorm acopalypse, 16 players), shooters (BF Series) and other fighting games (Street Fighter, MK). All Smooth.
But PSASBR is completly unplayable for me. I dont see any smooth movement, its a complete lagfest and my charakter doesnt move at all.
Unplayable.

Been playing Beta since private. Game is hell of Fun, perfect? Not really, but hell of fun. There is a huge learning curve on the game with characters. Kratos is a great character but not over powered at all. If you want out of his chain grab attack just block you can even air evade through it and he get's nothing.

I have to say the game is EXTREMELY balanced though. for where one short comings of a character comes in they give them a move to help them over come it. Parappa has a lease grab thingy *shrugs* that if people play keep away to long he can just bring them to him and do a amazing combo.

I mainly play with sweet tooth, Radec, and Fat princess but every character is easy to pick up and play with on the beta(except Sly). I haven't sat back once and compared this to smash because outside of it's genre/style it doesn't play like smash.

I like the meter build/super finishes a lot more then smashing off boards personally. Mainly because of things like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tjU7Rb6rQ0
The glitches in SBM/B just mad the higher level of game play UN-enjoyable for me personally. I know a lot of people loved it but that was because their favorite characters benefited from it. Link was useless in higher ranks of play.

On this game the balance is refreshing (at least until it releases and someone finds a weird glitch).

Oh and as for the Vita version. I like that one better mainly for the ease of use and built in mic.lol other wise exact game play and all.

@dragon I don't have any problems on the netcode for the game. Only a handful of times have I had people glitch out or skip frames but after I killed them they just tend to not spawn back. I have a smooth ride all the way through on the Vita

Yea after playing a match against two radecs, he is a force to be reckoned with cause its all long range. I guess it just takes more skill to master each character, whereas Smash bros. was more pick up and instantly be able to play each character fine. I guess that's the result of all the different fighting game experience contained in that studio.

Other than your issue, how does it play on Vita? I know that would be one of the things pushing me to get it for ps3, because I might be getting a Vita soon and having an extra game is always good.

I have played the latest beta on vita, its available for all vita owners , plus or not. My impressions are different. The balance is impeccable. You will understand that once you play it longer. An expert radec can easily beat the shit out of kratos, so does a parappa (my fav) who has awesome supers. Sly coopers hide feature be also awesome and can protect you from the level 3 supers. I have seen sweet tooth is pretty famous amongst players, but he is not my style.
If I have to point out anything, it will be the netcode. Granted, I dont have a awesome connection, but I was able to play wipeout 2048 without much troubles. The netcode felt completely broken to me on vita. Can anyone else share opinions on vita version?

I got the beta as part of PS Plus this week, which got me extremely excited because this game had 'potential' written all over it. Even if it was just an exact clone of Smash Bros., I would be just fine with that because that was a legendary game, and I've been wanting a playstation version for quite some time now. So I eagerly jumped on, chose a character and joined a match...

Now this was my first match and I chose Kratos because, well, he's the fucking God of War ;) The match begins, and I assume the other people have already played before, but I just began mashing Square and this is where I noticed a problem; Kratos' chain swords have a huge range in comparison to the other characters basic attacks, and when you use the square button you basically always hit latch on to them and just beat the hell out of them. Whether you're in the air, on the ground, whatever, chain swords are extremely unbalanced. No one could get within range to hit me so I had an almost perfect score of 6 kills to around 1 each for the other players.

This brings me to my next issue with the game.

Rather than knocking the enemy off the ledge like in Smash Bros, you have to build up a meter by attacking and eventually let off a special attack to kill them. Again, this is totally unbalanced because some characters have specials with ridiculous range while others don't. If you mix that with a character like kratos who can basically avoid most specials by simply grappling the enemy, game over man. Of all parts to copy from Smash Bros, you would think this would be the most important, but I guess they figured if the objective was different, that would shut up all the Nintendo fanboys crying "copycat".

There are my gripes with the game, but aside from that, the controls are spot on and everything looks really nice. The camera can sometimes be iffy and I occasionally lose track of my character among the chaos but it's an interesting play.

I'm not sure if I'll be buying it now, because the balance seems to be way off for certain characters and that just ruins the game when you try to play as the others. Still, maybe I'm just an extreme n00b who needs more practice, but I hope this gives you an idea of what it's like for those who have yet to try it. For those that have, what are your thoughts?
