Phillips Videopac G7000, which is the english name for it. I think the overseas one was called Odyssey.

Needless to say, it was a strange console to say the least

@ManuOtaku The problem with this fake consoles is that for the poor people or people that don't have videogame as a hobby, they aren't a problem, they are a solution. But for us, it's almost a crime to sell it, it's fake advertsiment if you analyze it. Not saying I'm rich or anything like that! At the time of PolyStation I only used pirated games on my PS, and even by doing that friends were like "OMG he has a videogame!". You know how the prople from third world countries can suffer because of the prices of videogames right?

But let the topic continue, this is talk for another topic.

Ok, got you, and it seems that we are not as clever as Brazilians are, well i was birth in Spain but raised in Venezuela, by the way, or that we dont care all that, what it did matters is that people got to their kids a very cheap playstation, and i guess it was all that did matter, darn economy problems and currency conversion issues :)

@ManuOtaku in Brazil PolyStation didn't sold that well and were target of a lot of hate from people who bought it thinking it was some kind of cheaper Playstation. And people who bought it were target of jokes from the ones who had the real PS. Me and my friends have the saying "Holy s**t, more fake than PolyStation!"

The most weird console I've seen(didn't had it, one friend had one) was the PolyStation, you could buy it in pharmacies here in Brazil(I'm not joking, it's true! R$40,00 something like U$20,00). It was just a NES cloaked as a PSOne http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-C7xAhoyxPZA/TmllJsyGCLI/AAAAAAAAABM/M0jWkrkhHpQ/s1600/polystation.jpg

It comes with one of these cartridges full of games but half of them were modifications of Super Mario, like Pikachu/Sonic instead of Mario

I never had something I would call obscure

^It did had three buttons that were primary use in games the keyboard numbers were for a security placement passwords and the like, if i dont recall wrong, i wasnt a fan of this controller, i barely remember it only for the alien game, that was great game for that time, it did had 64 bit graphics never before seen on consoles, that was the main attraction of this console.

p.s and i do also remember shaq-fu, that game goes hand in hand with E.T the most horrible games ever made

Back in the day when the cool kids were arguing Spectrum Vs C64 I had a Vic20, followed by a Commodore 16 then a Plus4. Console wise I had - and possibly still have - an Atari Lynx. Surfing on Summer Games was actually pretty impressive and fun.

I had one of these for my PC:

http://www.3do.cdinteractive.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=179

It was a 3DO graphics card and pad.

I had Road Rash, You don't know Jack and SSF2TX! Thought it was awesome until I couldn't find anymore games for it...

Also, it was a complete bitch to install!

Ended up giving it away, big mistake as I've seen them go for 250 plus on eBay! (I bought it for £25 at a car boot sale!)

Embarrassed to admit I got a Gizmondo back in the day on the back of Richard Burns Rally, which actually wasn't bad for an early handheld racer. Still boxed and mint in my cupboard, hopefully to be sold at an profit in 30 years time. Lol.

Way back when I was a kid though, I had a really obscure thing called a Memotech mtx512.

http://www.retrogamingcollector.com/Retro-Computers/MemotechMTX512.html

It had versions of all the popular games. But I always really wanted a c64.

Can't recall the name, but it was about the size of a VW engine block, the controller could have been used to beat baby seals to death, a dirty neon green spot in the middle & the only game worth playing was some tired old space marine corridor shooter...

I bet it died a death!

There have been loads of consoles released over the years, & most of them failed. I'm wondering what the rarest console people have ever owned is.

Mine is the Philips CD-i. Got it for Christmas '95(?) with about 10 games, including the infamous Hotel Mario & Zelda's Adventure. Later picked up Link: The Faces of Evil, which was marginally better than Zelda's Adventure, which is to say that it was just terrible.

To this day I can't believe I finished Mad Dog McCree using that shitty controller: http://www.old-computers.com/museum/hardware/philips_cdi_ir-controller_1.jpg

Also can't believe I finished games like The 7th Guest & Burn:Cycle without the aid of the internet, (didn't yet have a computer in those days). Burn:Cycle was by far the best game on the system, with a great soundtrack and setting. The Joker's Wild was a decent trivia game. Apart from those, the system was a disaster.
