Finally got my Platinum trophy on Rainbow Moon, it took me about 85 hours to get it. Now that's €12.99 well spent. :)

Ahhhh, When I saw 'rainbow moon' I thought it might be a video of a guy going mental cos theres a rainbow going across the moon. yeah, that would have been fun, but no, it had to be about games. Theres just so much stuff about games.

I bought the game used for only €15, since most online shops don't sell it (anymore).

If you want to go for platinum trophy and you can get the US-version, you should buy that one. The 1.01 patch was never released for the EU-version, and without it some mini-games are almost impossible to complete and you can't keep swords over different playthroughs.

thx for sharing your impression. yea, i researched a bit and those savepoint issues are a complaint many had. i´d hate that too...it still sounds fun overall but it can wait till i find it really really cheap i guess. i will be quite busy for some time soon with the 3ds xl - end of this week...

I have the EU version of 3D Dot Game Heroes. It's a great game with retro Zelda gameplay, but as in all From Software games, the gameplay can be really hard sometimes. The high difficulty didn't stop me from playing, but the lack of savepoints in the dungeons did. The last two temples are really huge, and I just hate playing the same part over and over again.

thx! i aprreciate, but i think i´ll try to find a cheap english copy. i can wait ´till i find it really cheap somewhere, it´s still pretty pricey. i just bought some 3ds games i haven´t already played and it´s just a week until the xl will arrive, i think i´ll manage this drought somehow, once i got the 3ds i´ll have a few unplayed games that´ll keep me occupied for quite some time. i´ll definitley look into rainbow moon though.

@Polygem
I have a Japanese/Asian copy of 3D Dot Game heroes. It's very old skool Zelda homage, I thought a lot better done than it had credit for. If it was released by Nintendo with the Zelda characters it would have been lapped up as a quirky offshoot. It's actually just sitting on my shelf and realistically never going to be played again - so if you fancy never quite knowing what's going on unless you can read Japanese then it it's yours (no charge).

I do thoroughly recommend Rainbow Moon too though.

hey nice one! i crave a game like this. i am without a 3ds atm because i sold mine and wait for the xl to arrive - which is great but sucks at the same time. i don´t really have anything to play on the 360 or ps3 atm either, at least nothing i feel like playing right now...game looks rather good will probably check it out this weekend. thx!

i was thinking about getting 3d dot game heroes too....anyone played this?

Exploring really pays off in this game. You'll find new sidequests, unique equipment and even optional area's and complete new dungeons if you do so.

Coming up to 3 hours in now. Finished the quest in the first dungeon but have gone back to the door which opened up using the lever near the exit. Looks like lots of goodies in there. I do like it when games put an effort in to designing stuff you will only see if you bother to explore a bit.

You're welcome DrDamn. And the game will only get better after more hours of gameplay, you've seen nothing yet! :)

Picking up loot gives you more and better items than using the autocollect at the end of the fight. Materials mostly, which you can use to improve your stats by crafting your weapons and armor.

Played for an hour and a half last night. Really rather good. Ticks a lot of my personal preference boxes. Loot, turn based strategic battles, quite roguelike meets MMO in essence. Thanks for the nudge towards buying Ge0force as I'd probably have just waited without your original post. :)

Oh couple of questions. If a mob drops loot mid battle do you have to walk over it in order to collect it? I seemed to get that impression but it wasn't clear. I quite like that the loot blocks mob movement - can use that to your advantage.

Just buy the damn game DrDamn. It kept me hooked for over 50 hours already, and I'm still playing it each day.

If you need more info, I wrote a review about the game:

I've been very tempted but have an already too big pile of shame to justify buying it now. Hopefully it'll turn up on PS+ in the future before I cave and buy it anyway. Would like to see it on Vita too. Seems to be a great example of how to do this sort of title well and at a good price. Great value for money. Other devs/publishers could learn from this.

I guess most of you don't know the game Rainbow Moon. It's a retro style turn-based RPG by SideQuest Studios (Sodner-X) and it was released on PSN last week.

I finished the game last night and I have to say it's truly excellent. It plays like a modern RPG with a huge open world with lots of secrets, a 40 hour main quest and lots of hidden sub-quests. The gameplay is really addictive and has a decent amount of depth, but new possibilities are introduced step by step, making the game also suitable for new players.

Best of all is the price: only €12.99, and PS+ members get 20% discount on top of that. Trust me on this, all retro fans should buy this game, you won't regret it!
