@Noodlemanny
Why would you presume that? I do drive, not often these days, but when I do, I listen to CD's. I use a GPS or map for navigation, and the internet for pre-route planning, news & weather. What use is radio?

Oh, and top 40 & FM radio can go fuck themselves.
Radio became obsolete over a decade ago, IMO.

Mainly electronic, quite a range, but favoring ambient lately: Tycho, Nathan Fake, Ulrich Schnauss... of course classics like Orbital, Chemical Brothers, and Underworld. The Prodigy is hands down the best live show I've ever seen. Underworld an easy 3rd. Cafe del Mar has put together some good collections.

Rock & alternative through the ages, though I'm partial to the 90's.

A little hip-hop, with The Fugees - The Score & Cunninlynguists - Will Rap For Food easily taking the top spots.

Some instrumental, Philip Glass & Buddy Rich... Some Canadian The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo...

Haven't heard a whole lot of heavy metal, apart from Metallica & Tool.

As far as game soundtracks, FFVII, Xenogears & Chrono Trigger are hard to beat.

Really, an impossible question, as I have almost 5000 mp3s on my computer, and a lot of them are one offs, always seeking a new sound.

To name a few bands / artists:
- Shinedown
- Jimmy Eat World
- Linkin Park (Some of their recent stuff has been bad but their new album, too good)
- Flogging Molly
- Daft Punk
- Rise Against
- Johnny Cash
- Bon Jovi*

Dubstep is a bit hit and miss. Some is good and some is utter crap (in my opinion). Drum and Bass is good as is electronic as well as rock / alternative. Anything heavy metal I cannot stand, Used to love stuff like Slipknot and other 'screamo' bands but now its just like "How the hell did I listen to that shit?"

Those I listed are my favourites by far.

Carpark North are alright as well, heard of them from a livestream.

*Edit: Bon Jovi deserves to be on that list seeing as I love "The Circle" album.

Ever since i was like..what...5 years old or so i've been a hardcore fan of Michael Jackson, fan and supporter through and through. The man might be dead but his works of art will always live on. Can't wait for september when the Bad 25 special edition comes out with the Bad tour finally on DVD. That said...

I dig all kinds of music. I have been loving alot of rap too for awhile, the kind of rap with thought provoking lyrics and you know, the more 'deep' songs. But now and then i could enjoy some club tracks and 'nonsense' tracks as well, just for the music basically. I can also really apreciate Singer/Songwriters like Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, John Hiatt and so on. And recently i 'discovered' Iron Maiden. I was always under the wrong impression that this was some loud heavy metal, you know...similar to Slipknot and the likes. Something i can't stand at all. But i was surprised to how great their music sounds,i'm definitely gonna be checking out more of those.

Anyway...with rap i meant..

Cypress Hill (they brought me into rap music)
Eminem
2Pac
Immortal Technique
Atmosphere
Brother Ali
Nas

and so on.

Recently i've been listening alot to this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV_3Dpw-BRY

@ASBI, yeah, one of my favourite all time musicians, he's the front man for The Wildhearts but that particular song is from his solo work.

Last year he ran a successful pledge music project, the resultant album from that project was released this week. I believe there's 1 track free on Itunes if you're in the US, otherwise this is it if you're not http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEkCDqvd7Bg&feature=related :p

The original pledge project was for a 30 track triple album which was deleted at 555% of its goal (5 being Ginger's lucky number), the commercial version is titled 100% and the track list was voted for by 555% pledgers.

I listen to pretty much everything except Hip-hop/rap/country like most, apparently. Lately it's been a toss up of metal and other random subgenres:

Com Truise - Glawio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XaiQrb0X_M
This is some fancy 80's sounding electro it's fairly soothing too.

Washed Out - Feel it all around -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DkslcOhytU
This has to be the most chill song ever to exist, just makes you feel so good. The genre is called Chillwave, there's only a few other bands making music from it but they're all pretty good.

Neutral Milk Hotel - King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LULmbLlPvVk
More on the indie/alternative side of things, this whole album is quality and I think has to be my favourite album ever, and it all begins with this song.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Violation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie165Bw6kNU
And here's some technical symphonic death metal to appease all of you metalheads. The entire album is pretty solid, and the next best song is called The Betrayal, I'd highly recommend also checking it out. The drummer is a beast.

That's just a selection of random picks, some stuff I could listen to forever :D

Too many to list really.

My all time fav is Scorpions. Going back their early days all of the way on up to the newest stuff.

I like almost everything, from Berry, Holly, and other early Rock and Roll all of the way on up to Shinedown.

Mostly I like Metal, but not the stuff that goes so far out of its way to be different and edgy. I don't have an axe to grind anymore and don't need my tunes to show I am pissed off at the world lol.

What I do NOT enjoy is hip-hop or rap. Just have zero use for that. I am not Ghetto, I am not Gangster, hell I am not even urban. I just can't get into it. I am not a Country Western fan either. Tho I do enjoy a few acts that dable in the stuff I don't like. I like LP, but that is mostly because Chester Bennington is beyond amazing vocaly. I enjoy old Garth Brooks music, couldn't explain it, just do.

Other things in my iPod right now include Styx, Van Morrison, Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, Rolling Stones, Beattles, Green Day, Bon Jovi, Posion, Alice Cooper, Boston, Scorpions, Shinedown, Disturbed, Cinderella, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, The Animals, Perl Jam, AC/DC, Jim Croce, Oasis, Skid Row, Led Zeplen, Cream, Queen, The YardBirds, and many many more.

My tastes are all over the place. But mostly "I Love Rock n Roll"(Joan Jet) and "New wave, Old Wave, it's Still Rock N Roll to Me"(Billy Joel) are the ideals that I enjoy music by.

Definitely, Triggerhappy. The Black Keys are brilliant.

If I had to make a very general statement as to why rock n roll (mostly) sucks today, it's because musicians have forgotten that the whole foundation for that music is the blues.

If it doesn't have that rhythm, then it just doesn't hit people as deep. And I think the only way to really get there, is by applying anything but your head to how you play.

/soapbox

I've been listening to a band called Dancing Lotus. Not the best stuff in the world but if you give it a try it'll grow on you. The best one they;ve done is probably Kings of Men. Found them though a youtube guy I'm subscribed to (watch?v=Lm7P_a76Tgk). There's this other band called Penguins kill polar bears, which is alright but not great. Then 'The Twang' (watch?v=sEnkIctM-Eo) is pretty nice too. Then I'm also getting into 'Puddle of Mudd'(watch?v=xJJsoquu70o). Try some of them out.
Edit :O no ones mentioned FEEDER! WTF?
Edit oh yeah then theres also Theory of a Deadman which is in my playlist right now.

Most of the time i listen to film or videogame soundtracks. I actually prefer music without any singer, that really tunes up my imagination.

I don't really have a favorite composer, but i mostly listen to the work of Kyd, Zimmer and Yamaoka.

Currently i'm listening back and forth between Max Payne 3, inFamous 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Shadows of the Damned, Drive and Inception.

Oh and the Soundtrack of Season 2 of Game of Thrones.

You're very welcome fearmonkey!

They really are geniuses. They started out as fusion jazz musicians. Then they decided it wasn't noisy enough, so now they're doing... That.

Their stuff is on Spotify. I'd really recommend their live album, Live Blackjazz. If anything they're actually better live.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qslyq8CcXu0

It's like Muse, Rammstein and Darkthrone had a baby, beat it savagely for the better part of adolescence, and then took it to a really good college for musical theory.

The gloom reminds me of an old band one of my teachers used to be in called Bleeder:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7MGraAgc1Y

And while I'm at it, I have to plug Powersolo too. Easily the most overlooked rock n roll troop in Europe, and there's no good reason for that.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zIFWMEafqw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyMxCS3TeBQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6WrI-vWd94
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud0MRXz5t5w

They're even overlooked back in Denmark, and that's where they're from! I think they're actually better known in Texas for killing at SXSW.

The great thing about being a metalhead is that you make a jacket that tells everybody what you like the most.

Mine is telling everyone that I like Gotham City, Acid, Dissection, Evil, Carnivore, Motörhead, Brocas Helm, Gehennah, Bathory, Holy Terror, Nifelheim, Watain and Killer.

But that's really just a few. Rainbow, Dark Angel and Hirax deserve to be on there too.

I'll listen to anything if people put their heart into it though. Johnny Cash, Kyuss, Foo Fighters, Erik Satie, Nina Simone, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Tom Waits.

... And Shining!!!

People tend to leave the room when I'm jamming my Shining.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHdgtRI-zhg

Must be because they have an irrational hate of Norwegians or something.

Gotham City is probably my favourite band though. I had to get that patch from Mexico.
