The ending they picked out was deliberately risky. The whole point was to question Cole who was the wonder boy but ends up cheating on his wife. Its a feeling we don't get very often in games, a feeling that the charater you play detrayed you. It's something thats different and rare even in the film industry and I respect that. It shows the team wanted it to be almost contraversal to leave you feeling kinda cheated. The whole thing with most of the people in the fund is like Phoenixblight said no matter how hard you try the world is still corrupt. I think the ending was fitting to the overall story line and it was something I don't think has ever been done before in a game. In the end I don't feel particularly cheated by the ending because I'm more impressed by it's significance.

If I'm honest I was a little disappointed with the ending. From about mid-Vice onwards the game went a little downhill for me. Maybe I just liked the poster boy version of Phelps more than washed up dirty cheat Phelps.

I understand the point of the drop from Vice to Arson but I actually wish I got more of Arson, I thought those cases where really good and wanted more with that partner.

I would also say that it felt a bit like a quick ending, as in we have played the whole game as Phelps and then a few missions as Kelso and BAM - Phelps is dead, a quick funeral and END. I can understand for the story's sake that he received a somewhat unceremonious funeral as towards the end he was "un-liked" but I didn't feel as a player who just spent 18 hours playing as Phelps I got enough closure to the story. Maybe they plan to release some large DLC like Phoenixblight mentioned and we get to play some good cases as Kelso.

As for the war backstory, I thought that was good. There was one final war scene either at the end or the beginning of the credits showing Kelso and the other 6th guys discussing the robbery, did you guys see that?

With all that said it was really a great game. I enjoyed pretty much all of the story. I don't have much love for the usual GTA/RDR/LAN side missions and stuff like that but the story was excellent, even though it didn't go completely the way I would have liked it to.

Final thoughts are: I WANT MORE HOMOCIDE AND ARSON!

Very good game but the ending was blah gave no closure, Roy and all those with the tycoon don't get their upcomings? Very sad panda.

But thats not to say the game was horrible, it wasn't at all and I understood what LA NOire was trying to do by not giving back history until Cole is caught cheating. THey were trying to show Cole was a workaholic and that he was dealing with a dark cloud from the war. I also understood why they switched to Kelso, Team Bondi wanted to put in contrast of his character next to Phelps. The game was very will written and directed how they directed the played with the story was very superb.

My probably was with the ending but thats understandable it was just like film Noire movies endings are similar. It's to show that the system is still corrupt even with Phelp and Kelso being unrelenting and strong willed.

I am hoping there is DLC just as large as the ones in GTA IV and Kelso solves the case with the tycoon as a PI.

I just finished L.A. Noire and jesus what a good story it was. What do you guys think about Cole's death or the whole World War 2 part. I originally was confused as to why they added it but now I understand, it made the story more complete.
