Vigor is the yellow blocks that are used for casting spells, but it is also used (some people seem to be unaware of this) for blocking and other special attacks. Like pulling out my sword, or when i attack, he stands for a few seconds before attacking. TO get orens you will have to do arm wrestling, fist fighting and side quests because the main quests offer little to no reward. SO you have to put in time for that. I wouldn't recommend trying to beat the game with crap gear you start with...
