Lots of things! I just got a shiny new G74SX (it is so beautiful) and I've been using it to play a variety of different things:

- Alien vs. Predator

Just playing it for the alien campaign, really.

I grabbed it in a sale for a few quid.

- Bastion.

On my second play through of this.

- Batman: Arkham City

There are a lot of things that bug me about this one. It's not a perfect game but it is fun. It's not been taking up a whole lot of my play time, though. Just a bit, here and there.

I picked it up in a sale for around ten quid.

- Book of Unwritten Tales

A wonderful little point & click adventure. Not as funny as it could be, but definitely full of charm.

- Dead Space & 2

I always was a fan of the Dead Space games, I've extolled their virtues over on RPS many times, and I'm currently replaying them now that I can do so with stupid levels of graphical goodness.

- Dustforce

You must look into this. It's a game about a malevolent dirt entity that's taking over the world, afflicting animals, people, and critters and corrupting them. The only ones that can stop them? Street cleaners and sweepers with various cleaning tools.

I am not making this up.

- Explodemon!

This is pretty fun. I get a definite Megaman vibe from it, yet so different.

- Fortune Summoners

This is just a beautiful little thing. It's only the demo but I look forward to the actual game coming out. I've put far, far too much time into this one.

- HOARD

I love playing this in co-op. But then, I just like dragons.

- Jolly Rover

I never did get around to completing this entertaining poing & click game, I'm working on it, though.

- L.A. Noire

It often comes across as a bit of a substandard version of the Phoenix Wright games and there's a lot they could have done better. But there's also a lot which is pretty decent and fun. I'm poking away at it in my own time.

- Nimbus

This game is EVIL. EVIL, EVIL, EVIL. But I still love it. Plus it reminds me of Batteries Not Included, and that's never a bad thing.

- Rochard

This... how to explain. This is about an overweight every-man who's out to save his co-workers from a disaster and thwart a conspiracy. He has a gravity gun-like device that does that better than Half-Life 2 did, and it has some of the best use of gravity I've ever seen in a game.

It's like Trine in some respects, but nowhere near as frustrating or annoying, you never lose because of poor controls or awkward level design. As much as I loved Trine, this is better, because it flows better and the design of the puzzles and levels and generally just superior.

It's not easy though, there are some parts that will make you feel like a bit of an idiot. But it feels you like screwing up, not like the game is, which is a feeling I got from Trine occasionally.

I urge everyone to give the demo of this a go.

- Saints Row: The Third

Completely ridiculous. I have an overweight guy in a mascot suit who can parachute out of a helicopter, land on a truck, and surf on it. It's just silly on every level. I've been having a lot of fun just screwing around in it and seeing what I can do.

- Shadow Era

I absolutely love this one. My tagline for it? It's Magic: The Gathering, but less wallet-raping and with better mechanics. In fact, it's superior to Magic in just about every conceivable way. It's more accessible to newcomers, and definitely more fun to play, but it's also trickier to master because ultimately there's a more complex game lying under that accessible exterior.

It's also very friendly to visually disabled people. Which I appreciate.

I like this so much that when they put up a preorder for physical cards, I immediately put my money down for a Wulven hero set. And that's another thing - you can actually have heroes in this which aren't just boring human mages or whatnot. They have a huge variety of hero characters - even werewolves!

And that's about it.

Finished a 2nd runthrough of UC3 on Hard, it really is a superb bit of software and I enjoyed it far more 2nd time around. The music and atmosphere are superb.

Still playing lots and lots and lots of bf3 and chipping away at Dark Souls.

Just bought Pixeljunk Sidescroller which is rock hard but brilliant.

Starhawk beta which is quite nice actually. Got the Metal Gear Solid HD collection for christmas, barely dabbled in it. I never played any of the older ones, I started with 4 (which is still one of the greatest games of all time), and I was for some odd reason expecting the control scheme to be a little similar to it. It wasn't, of course, mainly in the second one. The controls are just so hard to get in to, but I need to play these games. Any tips/general information I should know going in to these games?

Still playing skyrim at 220hours in - Kind of stuck. I cannot complete the next quest in the Companion quest line as the quest giver never gives me the quest they are supposed to. The Main quest - cannot complete because there is a bug where Im supposed to talk to the head of the imperials but accepted a quest from his underling, and he wont talk to me unless I complete it which makes me join the imperials. I think i want to join the storm cloaks so im stuck....
So, while waiting for the patch, playing Halo:Anniversary, Crysis 2, and Gears of War 3 (and some minor skyrim quests)

Over the weekend, it was mainly Everybody's Golf and starting Deus Ex: Human Revolution on PC

Me and two friends have been playing through the story of LotR: War in the North, in co-op.

The game itself is not great; it has crappy menus, poor inventory management, too much loot that looks exactly the same and barely changes your stats, some repetitive battles and some utterly retarded dialogue.

BUT, the story is half decent if you're a LotR fan (which I'm not but both other guys are) as there is a lot of connections to the books as well as the movie.

And the best part of all is the co-op. In SP this game would barely register as a 6.5/10 for me. But the co-op bumps this right up to an 8, maybe even a 8.5. Combat is fun when you work together and skills can be nicely balanced to suit each others abilities. If you're on vent or whatever, you can have a really good laugh at some of the dialogue. It might not actually be as fun or funny by design but it certainly pulls it off anyway.

It's a lot of fun and if you have two others to play it with I would highly recommend getting it in a sale or something.

Legend of Dragoon. Almost through Disc 1. Sure, released half a year apart from Final Fantasy IX, but still have graphics comparable to Final Fantasy VII. And sure, I've played games with better battle systems. But seeing as I've played VII, VIII and IX multiple times, it's cool to play a new story. And wow, not a bad story. As I said, battle system could involve more stuff. There's only attack, Dragoon (attack, magic), items. Though think I still need to learn some stuff about additions.

Also, recently played Final Fantasy XIII, gets some time getting used to not having full health after battle and checkpoints. Man, it was cruel having to play 2 hours of gameplay again.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, on GameCube with a component cable. Looks not bad. My Toshiba does this Resolution Plus thing, it sharpens it up considerably, infact im kind of surprised how decent it looks. Keep catching the controller wire on my foot, table, arm... wireless controllers were the real revolution this gen :P

Buying a £45 copy of MGS HD next week :0 This is the last title i'll be buying until at least March.

Arkham City lasted me just over a week. Loved the super dark ending. Recently realised Batman Returns is way better than the '89 one, funny because I always thought it was the other way around (hadn't seen them for a few years). Catwoman is awesome.

Finally into Arkham City. Had 'gamers block' there for a while but broke through tonight :D

Being The Bat feels good. Harley Quinn is one of the best characters EVER. Makes me do real life LOL's :D

Catwoman missions are excellent. Nice change of pace when they crop up. I thought Rocksteadys representation of her was a bit shit at first but now my minds totally changed.

Hopefully Arkham City will last me about 3 weeks, then its on to AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations back to back. Was going to pay over the odds for a copy of MGS HD but i might just wait till feb and get that nice limited edition... who knows.

Finished Uncharted 3 over the weekend, brilliant game. Going back through on crushing difficulty soon, but going to spend some more time with Batman now and finish that. Looking forward to AC:Revelations too.

I'm sorely tempted by Skyrim but it's not my usual type of game if I'm honest. I'm not sure I'll have the hours to sink into it in order to do it justice, is it worth it? It doesn't seem like the sort of game I can pick up for a couple of hours when I get the chance. I've got a week off in December so maybe I'll wait and give it a shot then.

Lego Harry Potter is out this week too, and the missus has already told me she's buying it so I think that will be next up anyway.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, all weekend, with a tiny bit of AC: Revelations in for added measure. But mainly, MGS. MGS2 is still awesome, and I finished MGS3 last night. Still remember now why it's my favorite game of all time. Still to do Peace Walker, but ACR's going to push that off for a fair chunk.

@ Deacon, I think there is a comic or interactive comic to bring you up to speed on the story. That's all you really need because ME1 was good but ME2 is in a class of its own by comparison.

I think you could go either or on the games and would have a good time. I definitely thought ME2 was an epic experience. My other advice would be to try and avoid reading how other people played the game. One of the best parts is finishing it with the decisions you made.

When I finished my first play through which I thought was perfectly great, only to be surprised when I spoke to others about how much more successful they were in the final mission. I almost instantly went back to try and right some wrongs haha. And then I went back again to do the opposite and be a total universe-wide dick and try to kill everyone.

Honestly, ME2 – LOVE IT!

Thanks Takeshi. That's a great idea with the interactive comic. I wasn't aware of the choices either.

Recruiting people was fun, but then the game stopped a 5 hours later which does so that I have a hard time recommending it. Yeah, I spent a bunch of time on it, 50+ hours according to Steam, but I was greatly disappointed that the game ended so soon after having recruited all my necessary team mates.

Personally, the story pulled me in with the first game. The combat did the same for me in the second instalment. Hopefully, the third will be a combination of the good stuff from both games. I haven't enough to make a proper judgement.

As for ME1 (from Wikipedia):

"Because the original Mass Effect will not be released for PS3, Bioware, in collaboration with Dark Horse comics, created the interactive comic Mass Effect: Genesis. The comic allows players to understand the plot and make six key decisions from the original game that will affect the player's Mass Effect 2 experience. It is now available as a DLC for all three platforms."

Thanks guys. I do love being able to join in the conversation on a newly released game, but the old man in me says 'wait a month or two until the price drops, and in the meantime finish up all these other games!'...

I'm really up for a full-on, epic, story-based game, and I'm thinking ME2 will be more of that than Skyrim. Besides, I had some bad bug fuck-ups with Fallout 3, which put me off ever finishing it.

I have a week to decide. I'll let you guys know which way I go!

And thanks for the advice regarding ME2. I am completely new to the franchise. Doesn't the PS3 version have something on the disc detailing the events of ME1?
