My condolences for japan. We’ve been through something like this before here in Indonesia (2004 Aceh’s tsunami) and its trully difficult to rise from this kind of destruction. The trauma, children without parents and family, disease in the refugee camp and still many problems will probably occur after the real disaster .
Recently I heard that the disaster are not stopped yet, its reported that radioactive dust from the blown up Nuclear Plant are moving toward Tokyo!
I hope that japanese can get pass through it well!

@ Freedoms_stain's link

Now do these people consider logics before spitting out this kinda of BS.
1) Pearl Harbor was generations ago. These people have to answer for what their ancestor’s committed?
2) Do the general population of one country have to answer for the sins of their military?
3) Do the innocent population have to answer for the crimes of their government?
4) How is an act of nature a resemblance of vengeance upon an act made by a man in charge of a branch of government
5) Should we go through the same kind of disasters as payback for what we have done to Viet Nam, Innocent civilians in Viet Nam, Mexico, and innocent Civilians in Iraq, Native Americans, Africans/African Americans?

Seriously, its these kind of Americans that make America look bad. Fine, we have our own problems here and if you feel we need to fix our problems before giving your aid elsewhere at least have a clue about Respect. Nobody deserves to go through such terrible disasters.

Some people just don’t like to think and some people just do not have any sense of respect.

Absolutely devastating. I watched the events unfolding on the news and the weakness I felt can't even be described. Events like this make people realise just how weak as a species we really are, not just how easily nature can destroy everything we as humans have created but the sheer idiocy of people like those freedoms_stain linked to. Their very logic (or lack of) is no different to terrorists and killers who use the Crusades or whatever event of the past to justify their barbarity.

Events like these should teach us to get along, to help and to aid those weaker or more disadvantaged than ourselves. Just as the pure hatred displayed in World War 2 should of shown the world just how vile the human race can be - instead people use it as justification for their own baseless hatred.

I watched the news in abject horror on Friday but couldn't handle it any more by saturday. As a child, I spent a year in Japan ( Okayama prefecture- Tamano City, right on the east coast, but in the Inland Sea so *should* have been protected ).

Just caught up on it all as I came to work with Radio 4 news and can't believe it's still getting worse with the nuclear plant. It's just horrendous.

I've lost touch with all my old childhood friends from there but I'm desperately hoping they got through unscathed. I'll be donating for sure, I'm trying to scour the net for old names that I remember to try and find out some info about Tamano too. :(

@freedom Christ. The ignorance of those under 60 in this country shames me. "They" did not "bomb" Pearl Harbor. /facepalm Okay, well, I guess Katrina was payback for all the Slaves coming in an out of port in New Orleans, because, you know, "we" condoned slavery. It's amazing how people can justify hatred-filled comments and thoughts just because our ancestors performed atrocities. If that is their flawed logic, then any atrocity or bad behavior on man's part from 15,000 years ago can be used against the current generation. Idiots. This is why I never read comments on world news posts anymore.

Wow, what a bunch of ignorant pricks they are, every last one of them! Especially as their selective memory seems to let them down...

Americans killed in Pearl Harbour (mainly military): 2,403
Japanese killed by allies 2 nukes (mainly civilians): 150,000

It's amazing the effect a shitty Michael Bay film can have!

This problem in Japan is by the way not only hurting people.

but to be honest it hurts gaming also. Sony said that they closed research facilities there (+ Nissan and Toyota and others).
Nintendo will follow that too.

Someguy2, the only reason people are saying that is because on the Internet you can say whatever tacky, hateful thing you want, and then go about your day like nothing ever occurred. It is easy to be an ass, a bigot, and just a plain moron online when in polite company you would never get away with saying things like that - and 90% of the population would never utter such rude words in person anyway. Thus, the Internet provides a perfect cloak of anonymity to be a prick. Regardless, it's sick. Those poor people need all the support they can get, not hatred and ignorance.

This is an IGN blog by a girl who was in Japan at the time. http://www.ign.com/blogs/kiera2/2011/03/11/well-ive-had-an-eventful-afternoon

I would just like to say that my heart goes out to all of those touched by the shear devistation and destruction that has besieged Japan and the residents there.

Meaningful words fail me, so me and my family have made donations to the American red Cross to help in their efforts to offer aid and help the folks of Japan.

Once again real life reminds me of how unimportant our hobby truely is, regaurdless of how much passion and gusto we all share for it. Right now our fellow gamers and human beings are hurting. I ask you only to do what you can. I know times are tough for a lot of us, but I wonder if you could buy one for Japan? But instead of bringing home a new game, send that cash over seas.

They need it more then we need yet another video game.
