you pay £150-£200 for xbox but then youve got to pay for the wirless receiver another £50-£80 and Xbox live an extra £40 per year, so that about £250 for the latest console with built in wirless, and the same really for the lower budget model if you need the wirless receiver which mose people do, ino i do, and you will have like a 4gb or no hard drive. then you have compared to the ps3 a good chance that it may brake and not have a very long life.</p> <p>the ps3 on the other hand is £250-£300 all in depending on which one you wan’t might aswell go for the 160 gb you dont really need 320, and you get a full HD gaming system, plus added bonuses of being able to surf the internet watch bluray movies and enjoy true stunning HD games, plus the PS3 has proven extremely reliable and should last around 8 years with a very low percentage that it will break, just incase it does i have the warrenty for 5 years which cost only £50 just incase. It caused more grief, more petty arguing and it has almost destroyed the series image of how fun the games were back 20 years ago. I understand from a business point you're trying to make a profit but at the same time you're not going to make a profit if the product sucks and people start to lose faith in the franchise because you decided to be greedy. </p> <p>Its like trying to make 100 cup cakes with your secret ingredients that make them the best cupcakes in the world but another guy asks you to make him 100 also and you only have a limited of ingredients to ensure your first 100 cupcakes will retain their famous desired flavor but you decide to skimp out and spread your resources making 200 and the products come out bland and average. That's what happened to FFXIII, Tekken 6, Devil May Cry 4, and other legacy exclusives that once belonged to the PlayStation brand.</p> <p>GTA4 is another prime example. Its no where as memorable as the 3 series. San Andreas to me is even better but why?.....Because GTA4 was spread out and all the right resources weren't focused on one product first and it suffered imo on the fun factor original essence of what GTA was all about. The whole greediness and foul play over sales and exclusive timed content ruined GTA image big time. But like I said coming from a business stand point Take 2 was in financial trouble and they had no choice but to spread themselves and maximize their chances for profit to protect themselves from going under and being bought by E.A. But in the end it really did damage to the GTA series and now its going to bite them in the ass because GTA has been over taken by C.O.D. in terms of crazy day 1 numbers and popularity.</p> <p>Despite the fall of our many beloved legacy exclusives from last gen we are seeing some cool new ones like Demon Souls, Valkyrie Chronicles, and Gears of War being born this generation. Ultimately though 1st party exclusives will be the most important to consoles because they take advantage of the hardware. Naturally as (console) gamers we love to see that next big graphical and technical leap in titles every year or 2 in that general 1-7 year console cycle of current hardware. </p> <p>The author of this thread asked one general question that I was of interest of and why I chose to reply to this (obvious flamebait) thread in the first place. He asked about the future of both the XBOX360's and PS3's exclusives and I think its pretty much evident that which ever company has the best 1st party devs they will ultimately have a greater chance of having the best exclusives in the end of this console generation. That means SONY and M$ will release their best exclusives for their consoles this fall and to me its been a head off battle I've wanted to see ever since the original Uncharted released.</p> <p>Uncharted 3 vs Gears 3 is undeniably the best test to compare which console has the best exclusives and power of both consoles hands down.<br /> Gears 2 is XBOX 360's best looking title, UC2 is PS3's best looking title. They're both on a technical level very impressive with very good story narratives and voice acting.....this shit is destiny people. To me this will determine who won the console war of this gen. The reason I didn't mention dmc2 is because it fell to that standard of rushed product. When capcom released a press note that they were cutting dev time so they can release new titles annually over the 5-6year dev times also proves it. It was also posted on this site, and capcoms release of mvc3, sf4,and ssf4 shows what quality u get from rushed work. Sf4 ran better on 360 but ssf4 released 7mnths later made it more stable in quality between the 2. And now mvc3 is falling victim to the same issues as sf4.<br /> We didn't have these terrible frame issues in exclusive fighters like we do now. They didn't need to do tech analysis on them because there weren't any issues that the other didn't equally suffer from. Also, my point is being brought to the fact that there are multiple consoles out here now. That the quality is shot. For instance, cod4 even trade on xbox and ps3. Pretty much no complaints. Then mw2 released people noticed favor in 360. Then black ops again favor in 360. But if you pay attention each title a year of dev time apart of launch. What does that equate? RUSHED products. And, are they not multi platforms?<br /> The proof doesn't take rocket science to uncover its right there. Every dev falls for this because of the fact 360 is easiest to develop for. So they develop for 360 1year-1yr and a half then port. Back in the day the market was ps1 versus pc if you don't recall.<br /> Also, sonic adventure 1 and 2 were loved by its fans. Maybe not by you but I know tons of people who still clamour about the awesomeness that was sonic adventures.<br /> In the end though at this state of gaming exclusives don't matter to drive systems. Because the biggest system movers now are multi platforms. But, they do help a hell of a lot to tilt favor to console specifics. If you take into account titles like dead space 2 or casltevania you can tell completely where if they were console exclusive they would blow some of our cherished titles out of the water. But, instead their anchor down to try and feed off of both consoles strengths. When I saw the ending cg of LoS I was like this is the worst looking cg I've seen to date. LittleBigPlanet 2 is one of my favourite games of this year, in much the same way the first one was.</p> <p>You're missing the point (as usual). There are just as many great third party games as there are first party ones, and it ultimately comes down to the games you want to play.</p> <p>Batman certainly wasn't hurt being his multi platform. Neither was Red Dead Redemption. Or Vanquish. or any other number of titles. The vast majority of these are vastly better than the majority of exclusives that appear on any format.</p> <p>But *every* format has great exclusives.</p> <p>The Wii has great exclusives. I can't wait for The Last Story, which is looking phenomenal. I also want to give Epic Mickey and Kirby's Epic Yarn a bash.</p> <p>The DS has great exclusives. I'm knee deep in Pokemon Black, and I have a back catalogue of great RPGs on the format that I need to sink my time into at some point as well - Dragon Quest IX, Infinite Space, Golden Sun, etc.</p> <p>The PSP has great exclusives. I'm nearly finished my complete play through of Birth By Sleep, and I'm looking forward to the new Dissidia. I've sunk nearly 100 hours into the original.</p> <p>The PS3 also has great exclusives. There's no denying that. Heavy Rain, LittleBigPlanet, Demon's Soul, Flower, Heavenly Rain... some of the best gaming experiences I've had.</p> <p>The 360 may not have as many, but its still had some great ones. I loved Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and I love the Project Gotham games.
