Ended up ordering a Zotac 560 GTX Ti 1GB PhysX Cuda today.

If it's half as good as the name is long, I'll be in for a treat I guess :P

Thanks again guys.

Thanks a lot bpcgos!

I've looked at a few reviews of people testing various volumes of ram on graphics cards, and the upgrade seems to be very marginal, with the lower ram versions actually winning every now and then. I reckon I'll go for the 1gb version.

I already got 8gb ram on my motherboard, so I definitely won't need any for quite a few years :D

@DSB
Me too, I didnt have any HD tV yet! :D THe price are far too high in a development country like mine!

BTW, What do you mean by RAM? System RAM or graphic card RAm (VRAM)?
Actually, both have certain impact in gaming ! Just read it here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ram-memory-upgrade,2778-6.html.
In summary, system RAM, especially in 64 bit OS, were used by graphic cards to store unused textures data. Bigger system RAM (more than 8 GB) also help you too reduce some artifact.

Meanwhile,if you talk about VRAM, then its determine how big resolution it can handle. For example, in PES 2011, if your graphic card have 256 MB Ram only, it will stuck on 1280x720 resolution.
Besides of that, level of AA and AF plus 3D and eyefinity (multi monitor) were also eats your graphic card RAM significantly! CMIIW !

I dig, but I'm pretty far behind on the whole media center thing. I don't even have an HD tv :P

I should get something like that in the future, but I mean, short of buying a wireless card like that, there are still other ways of achieving it.

Does anyone know what the brass tacs benefit of ram is on a graphics card? How much does it influence?

@hunam.
That's true, but its pretty useful if you want to switch from your PC monitor to HDTV in your living room easily when you want to watch HD movies in a larger screen with your family. Of course, its just a matter of taste!

Wait, try this http://www.guru3d.com/news/wireless-graphics-card--kfa2-gtx-460-wdhi-review/! Wireless graphic cards based on GTX 460.
Its pretty neat not to mess with HDMI cables if its met your budget of course!

"I'm not interested in Radeon cards. Too poorly supported, and I'll never forget how ridiculously bad their Catalyst system was. Life's too short :P"

But they offer much more then Geforce. Sure there is noo physX and 3D, but they are cheaper and more horsepower for that price.

but if you prefer Geforce, then for some money you can go for 460.

I've got a 460 and its serving me proud. Bought it for £125.

I recommend it.

I can handle a Geforce card offering slightly less horsepower, but working every time you need it.

Thanks for the input though.

It's good, but i'd go with Radeon 6870 HD.

Go with 1GB, there is not much of a departure with 1gb or 2gb with this videocard. (460 gtx)

I'm considering fitting one into my budget before long, but I just wanted to hear if anyone has any experience with that chipset.

Also, is there any reason why you would go for the 1gb over the 2gb?
