NCAC upset over arcade games pulled from Massachusetts rest areas
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation decided to remove arcade games it deemed violent from rest stop in the state earlier this month, which has caused the National Coalition Against Censorship to cry foul.

Disney to have a look at whether its games could be deemed as violent
Disney chairman and CEO Robert Iger said during a HRTS Newsmakers Luncheon this week the company would look into whether any of its video game offerings could be deemed as violent. Iger admitted there is “very little” violent content created at Disney, but said the company would take “stock in everything we’ve got that can be considered near or over the line.” Iger stated further he wanted to make sure Disney was asking the right questions in terms of its content and remain “part of a dialogue in today’s world that I think is pretty necessary in terms of what our role is and what our role should be.” Thanks: GI International. California senator Yee: gamers have “no credibility” in violent media argument
California state senator Leland Yee , who tried to pass a bill banning the sale of violent video games to children – a move blocked by the US Supreme Court in 2011 – is back in the news, adding his two cents to President Obama’s decision to have the CDC study whether there’s a ink between violent media and gun violence.
After various sites reported on his comments, Yee took to Twitter to admit he “didn’t use the best words” to covey his opinion on the matter.

Connecticut town cancels plan to collect and destroy violent video games
The Violent Video Games Return Program, a community initiative started by representatives from Southington, CT, has been cancelled by its organizers. The program would have allowed residents to trade-in their violent games for $25 a gift certificate donated by the Greater Southington Chamber of Commerce. According to Polygon, a spokesman said the January 12 event would have created an “unnecessary amount of logistical details,” but the group will still hand out certificates to parents who had a chat with their children about violent games as a goodwill measure. The initiative was created in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings, which took place 30 miles from Newtown, CT on December 14.
