MA15+ games to be reclassified as R18+ in South Australia
South Australian attorney general John Rau intends to introduce a revised games ratings system for his home state, and asked for nation-wide acceptance.
Hooray? Not quite. It won’t help you get your hands on the likes of Mortal Kombat and an uncensored Left 4 Dead 2 – but it will stop under-eighteens buying Grand Theft Auto IV or Fallout 3.

Gamers’ Voice unhappy with Channel 5′s The Wright Stuff
Rights group Gamers’ Voice has hit out at C5′s The Wright Stuff after it alleged a link between a London gang-related shooting and violent videogames, following which the programme showed footage of 18-rated Modern Warfare 2 at 10.30am.

Study suggests there are no long term desensitizing effects from violent games
A new study featured in the Applied Cognitive Psychology journal suggests there isn’t much of a difference between violent videogames players and non-gamers when it comes to being desensitized to violent images.

US Supreme Court takes Schwarzenegger bill into consideration, ruling expected by June
Supreme Court Justices weighed in on the videogame violence bill written by California state Senator Leland Yee and supported by the state’s governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and if you look over the transcripts, it honestly doesn’t look like the bill sits well with the justices based on its vagueness, yet it still allowed the case to be submitted for consideration.

GoW III producer: “Don’t do anything just to be controversial”
