Awesome Mafia 2 trailer shown at VGAs
After the break. The Illusion Softworks open-worlder is showing exceptional presentation at this stage, if nothing else. There’s no gameplay in the footage, but oodles of atmosphere. And we’re all about the atmosphere.
2K, next year, PC, PS3, 360.

Will Wright working on new project
Will Wright’s confirmed to Joystiq that he’s already working on a brand new game.
“I’m working on a big new project that I’m very excited about, but I don’t want to talk about it yet because if it takes three years to come out I don’t want people saying ‘Wow, he’s been talking about that for a loooong time,’” he said, talking at last night’s Spike Video Game Awards.
Spore’s only really just got going, with the game releasing in September and the first content packs making it out in the last month.

EA announces Dante’s Inferno
EA just press released Dante’s Inferno. The game was announced tonight that the VGAs.
There’s little detail on the game aside from the fact it’s being developed internally at Redwood Shores and is, obviously, based on the Divine Comedy.
“The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience who, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” said Jonathan Knight, executive producer for the game.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”
It’s out next year. Press release after the break.

New Uncharted 2 trailer looks bleak
Or rather, things look bleak for hero Nathan Drake. Watch the wise-cracking Croft-killer bleed everywhere and ride a vertical train the only way anyone knows how. It’s cringe-inducing stuff.
Game looks amazing, though. Full trailer’s after the break.

GTA: Lost and Damned debut trailer preaches brotherhood, togetherness
Oh man, go check out this trailer. We’d say more, but GTA: LAD’s subtle combination of motorcycles, heavy-metal, and gruff, gun-toting Manly Men has us feeling the need to chomp on nails and bend things. A need which absolutely cannot go unsatisfied.
Check it out after the break.

First real-time God of War 3 footage punches the earth

Kratos is back, and he’s pissed. Why? We’re not really sure. Probably the economy. But Kratos’ loss is our gain, because when mythological Greece’s Godzilla blows his top, he slashes up horse-people and punches them with wolves.
Check out the full trailer after the break.

Gears of War 2 “Combustible” map pack dropping after midnight* (Update)

Update: It’s out now.
*Well, if you’re over in the Pacific.
Otherwise, according to Spike TV’s Videogame Awards, it’ll be waiting for you when you pop out of bed tomorrow. Or when you get done working. Or whatever it is you do.
The map pack is hitting Xbox Live at 12 AM Pacific/3 AM East. We imagine it’ll emerge elsewhere, too — though no specifics were provided.
Apparently, it’ll add three new locales to Gears 2′s multiplayer mode: “Flood,” “Gold Rush,” and “Fuel Station” — the last of which is a new Horde map.
