GamesCom Day One: All the EA and Sony stuff in one post

Day one is rounding up at GameCom and if you missed out on any of it, we’ve got you covered.
It’s all here in one lovely post. From Peter Moore sporting shorts and chatting on stage with Katarina Vitt, to Ray Muzyka not giving us a Mass Effect 2 date – that was the EA side.
From the day purchase of a purple Hannah Montana PSP 3000 to Kaz’s mega-fucking-ton but anticlimactic announcements of PS3 Slim and it’s pretty price – Sony’s all right here as well.

Singstar: Hits from the Musicals rumoured
This Hexus report is rumouring that Sony’s working on a SingStar game based on classic musicals, named, aptly enough, Singstar: Hits from the Musicals.
Apparently, the following tracks are to be included:
- Bad Guys – Bugsy Malone
- Can You Feel the Love Tonight? – The Lion King
- If I Were a Rich Man – Fiddler on the Roof
- Over the Rainbow – Wizard of Oz
This is actually cool. Singing If I Were a Rich Man is approximately 40,000 times more preferable than scratching along with Boyzone. We’re not 12. We’re real men.
More on this soon, hopefully.

Sony E3 2008 press conference starts at 7.30pm UK time
Here we go. Nintendo just delivered a “news-light” press conference at E3, clearing the way for what we hope will be a “fireworks-heavy,” force 10 of a showing from Sony. Microsoft blew the internet up last night with a line-up topped off with a gigaton FFXIII announcement, and all eyes are now on PlayStation 3 and its coming year to deliver the goods.
Home, a price cut, new hardware, the Ueda game, Tears of Blood, God of War, Resistance 2, Killzone 2: let’s go Sony. Give us everything you’ve got. Let’s see Kaz cry with excitement. Let’s see Harrison-replacement Shuhei Yoshida rip the roof off. Let’s see fucking something, anyway.
The IGN feed’s holding up very well. All details here.

European SingStore updated – get O Mundo A Meus Pés right now
The European SingStore’s getting an update today, according to ThreeSpeech. It’s a stunner. We’ve never heard of any of the European stuff so we have no idea if it’s any good or not, but the English stuff looks OK. Assuming you have to sing to music instead of just, like, listening to it. Weirdos.
List after the link.

SCEE PlayStation Day: Kaz Hirai interview
Kaz is a nice chap. He only flew in to the UK this morning for the SCEE PlayStation Day in London, but he was still the consummate, media-trained super-exec we know and love when we tracked him down on the O2 showfloor. Hit the link for the SCE president’s thoughts on Europe, “changes” to E3, Grand Theft Auto and selling PS3 as a games machine.
We also asked him what keeps him awake at night. See if you can guess the answer.
