Sony’s announced details of the Version 1.60 update that will go live for PlayStation Home later today. The big change is the number of item placements in your space, up from 50 to 100. Sony has signed up with streaming movie provider Crackle to bring free movies to virtual world PlayStation Home.

Sony’s fully rebooted PlayStation Home, as promised back in the summer and detailed yesterday. The redesign will come with four new districts, F2P games on a freemium model and other content. SCEE’s Darren Cairns noted the new look “puts you right at the centre of a world of games,” and that it’ll give “a completely unique way to meet your PlayStation Network friends and play, interact or simply hang out with them.”

Sony did not break Australian privacy laws in response to the PSN breach according to Privacy Commissioner
According to a declaration made by the Australian Privacy Commissioner, despite Sony’s delayed response in informing consumer’s of April’s PlayStation Network security breach, it has been determined that the company has not breached the nation’s Privacy Act.

Tomorrow, September 29 from 8am BST PS Home will go offline for scheduled maintenance, and once back up, client update 1.55 client will be up and running. Improvements to the Home start up flow, wardrobe and furniture browsing, and much will be applied. Full details of the client update can be found here. Sony’s announced on the EU PS Blog it’s to stream live its gamescom press conference inside PlayStation Home. The event will be streamed inside the gamescom event space in the service from 7pm CET (6pm BST). The space itself will be available to download from 5pm CET (4pm BST) via the Navigator in Home and the What’s New section in the XMB. In case you can’t get in, we’ll be there too with a liveblog.
