Free-to-play The Simpsons: Tapped Out to release on iOS and Android
EA and Gracie Films have been working on a freemium title based on Fox’s The Simpsons annimated series called The Simpsons: Tapped Out, and it will be the first free-to-play title released based on the franchise.

EA ends free Battlefield 3 offer with ME3 Origin pre-order early
Earlier this week, EA was offering Battlefield 3 as a free digital download to those who pre-ordered Mass Effect 3 through the firm’s Origin service. The offer wasn’t supposed to expire until March 5, but it looks as though EA ended the deal a bit early, around 2:00 PM EST on February 16 to be exact. Those who got in on the deal before its early demise will receive a code to download the shooter via email by by March 8, which two days after Mass Effect 3 launches in the US. Thanks, Joystiq.

Mass Effect 3 on Origin doesn’t contain “an intrusive DRM scheme”, says Bioware
Casey Hudson, executive producer on Mass Effect 3, has said those playing the game through Origin need not worry about any intrusive DRM, and furthermore, they can absolutely play the game offline.

Mass Effect 3 Origin pre-orders net free BF3
Origin is offering a free copy of Battlefield 3 with US pre-orders for Mass Effect 3, along with the previously-announced bonus weapons, the M55 Argus Assault Rifle and Origin-exclusive AT12 Raider Shotgun. While you’ve got EA’s digital dsitribution client open, note that the PC demo is now live. BioWare’s anticipated RPG hybrid release for PC on March 6 in the US, March 8 in Australia and March 9 in Europe.

Remedy signs with Origin, brings Alan Wake as welcome gift
EA’s announced this afternoon a new list of partners for Origin, the main one being Alan Wake developer Remedy. The Finnish studio will bring the upcoming PC version of Wake to the service when it launches. The others who’ve also also signed up to Origin alongside Remedy are Iceberg Interactive, Strategy First, Macro Games, Selectsoft and Legendo Entertainment, who join initial third-party partners Warner, THQ, Capcom, Trion and Robot Entertainment.
EA announced last night that 9.3 million active Origin accounts for the marketplace.

Origin offering Mass Effect, Dead Space for £3, Bulletstorm for £7.50
EA’s sounded the bargin siren, pricing the original Mass Effect and Dead Space for £3 on Origin, while its sequels are £10 and £7 respectively. Dragon Age 2 and Mirror’s Edge are also in on the deal at a fiver a pop, while Spore’s available for £6 and Bulletstorm at £7.50. The deal’s available for a limited time, though, so get to it.

Reckoning: 38 clarifies online pass, sorry for “buggy” demo
38 Studios has clarified details regarding what the online pass included with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning entails, and as it turns out, it’s actually DLC new buyers get for free before it’s released as paid content.

Battlefield 3 PC patches locked to Origin
EA and DICE have told Ausgamers that there are no plans to release PC patches for Battlefield 3 outside of Origin. After a recent 3.6GB patch, fans had requested the updates be released as stand-alone files to allow for faster, unmetered download speeds from ISP-hosted mirrors, but to no avail.

PSA: Arkham City hits PC in the US, Robin Bundle Pack hits all formats
Just a quick reminder to let you know that Batman: Arkham City is now available on PC, Steam, OnLive, Origin, and GameStop’s Impulse in the US. The Robin Bundle packs is also available today on the aforementioned platforms, along with PSN and XBL for $6.99/560 Microsoft Points.
