The Sims 3 to receive content from three decades
The Sims 3 developer, Maxis, has announced its to release an expansion in January 2013 that will add content from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The expansion is cannily titled “70s, 80s & 90s Stuff”.

SD Gundam G Generation Overworld, 3DS top Japanese retail charts
Namco Bandai’s SD Gundam G Generation Overworld for PSP was the clear winner at Japanese retail this week, with 209,815 units sold. Dead or Alive 5 for PS3, also new this week, came in second place with 66,586 units sold. The Xbox 360 version of the game came in 10th, moving 14,811 copies, bringing total sales of the game to 81,397 units. 3DS LL was on top again in hardware, moving 55,353 units, up from 35,206 the week prior.

Final Fantasy 3 and 3DS top Japanese charts
Final Fantasy 3 for PSP and 3DS were the big winners on the Media Create charts in Japan, selling 44,872 and 61,382 units, respectively. We combined units sales of 3DS LL and 3DS there. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning debuted in third place on PS3, and LittleBigPlanet Vita debuted at 17. Get the full hardware and software charts below.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 debuts in top spot at Japanese retail
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 debuted at number one on the Media Create charts in Japan, followed by 3DS title Medalot 7 Kabuto Ver. / Kuwaga Ver. knocking New Super Mario Bros. 2 to third. Pokemon Black 2 / White 2 may be in sixth place this week, but it’s getting closer to 3 million sales lifetime. 3DS LL and 3DS were still one and two on the hardware charts, with PS3 nestled in third followed by Vita.

Fractured Soul, Mystical Ninja starring Goemon, and others have kicked off this week’s offerings available from Nintendo’s eShop. Both titles are available through the service for 3DS, as is Heavy Fire: Special Operations 3D and Bookstore Dream. The later is also available through DSiWare.
