The Xbox Games and Xbox SmartGlass apps for Windows 8 and Windows RT will be updated this week. The Xbox Games app should run faster, and provide simpler access to recently-played games and associated DLC, as well as more obvious trailers and screenshots and the ability to send messages to Xbox Live friends. The Xbox SmartGlass app will stay awake while you’re using the second screen function, and will benefit from an updated controller layout as well as some stability fixes. Microsoft has revealed more of its PAX East line-up today, and other than the already mentioned Halo 4: Castle Map Pack, the Gears of War: Judgement Maxim Map Pack will also be on the floor. State of Decay, Max: Curse of the Brotherhood, Motocross Madness along with Windows 8 and Windows Phone games will be shown as well, as will Age of Empires 2: HD Edition. A panel titled “Halo 4 Multiplayer: Past, Present, and Future” will be hosted in the main theater by 343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor, Kevin Franklin, Dan Ayoub and David Ellis, as well as Certain Affinity’s Tom Potter. Xbox Live Arcade puzzler ilomilo is now available on the Windows 8 store, rejoicing in the new appellation of ilomilo plus, although sadly still lacking in proper capitalisation. This PC and tablet version has two new chapters packed with puzzles and story and supports control pads, touch screen or mouse and keyboard controls. It’ll set you back $7.
