“Something brand new” for Team Fortress 2 this year
In a post on the Team Fortress 2 blog, Valve has teased a number of planned updates for the coming year. The publisher plans to hold its second annual Saxxy Awards; has launched a Steam Workshop blog; and will release a new “Meet The” short for the Pyro. Most excitingly, there’s “something brand new” in the works for the game. No hints were dropped except that it’s not a hat, a map, or a hat-map hybrid. Team Fortress 2 is one of the most successful squad multiplayer shooters, and went free-to-play last year. It’s available for PC and Mac via Steam.
Thanks, Kotaku.

Racial slur slips into Minecraft translation project
A scurrilous Minecraft user pulled a swifty on Mojang, adding a racial epithet to the game’s crowd-sourced Afrikaans translation. Lead developer Jens Bergensten apologised for not catching the user, but it should be noted that Mojang does not produce Minecraft’s translations, instead asking fans to pool their knowledge and get the job done. The slur has since been removed. If you would like to contribute to Minecraft’s translation efforts in a more positive way, check out the project page.
Thanks, Strategy Informer.

The studio’s managing director, Daniel Da Rocha, told Joystiq it was also looking at an OnLive release for sometime in Q1. For PSN and XBLA releases, those are “dependent on how well the PC version does”; this seems hopeful, as it was downloaded 12,000 times in its first four days on sale recouping all its production costs.
