Nippon Ichi has released some devastatingly colourful artwork as well as the first screenshots for its new side-scrolling RPG, Princess of Arcadias. We don’t know very much about the PlayStation 3 exclusive just yet except that it stars a crowned girl – presumably the titular princess – kicking all kinds of arse with a variety of enormous weapons. Nintendo has sent word it has prevailed in getting the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to uphold the firm’s victory in a patent-infringement case brought against it by IA Labs CA, LLC. The Court of Appeals agreed with the lower court that Nintendo did not infringe IA Labs’ patent, and it upheld the ruling that IA Labs must pay Nintendo more than $236,000 in attorneys’ fees. “We are very pleased with the court’s decision,” said Richard Medway, NoAs deputy general counsel. “Nintendo has a long history of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We also vigorously defend patent lawsuits, like the IA Labs lawsuit, when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party’s patent.”

DICE’s Patrick Bach is of the opinion that competition for Battlefield 4 is good for the industry, and the developer is working hard to ensure the franchise doesn’t get diluted.

Kabam’s Fast & Furious 6 game, a free-to-play title for smartphones and tablets has been installed over 17 million times since its May 16 launch. The game topped the iOS charts in over 100 countries, and is monetized with in-game gold users can purchase for upgrades and customization. Thanks GI International.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is getting an iOS game which will star the Spider-Bots which are in the game, running around gathering intelligence. The app is now available free on the App Store, and is a 2D puzzler where you control your spider-bot as it gathers intel and try avoiding other robotic spies, guards, and turrets. Planned future updates include “Stealth-Bot” and “Strike-Bot” modes, and special content for Blacklist. Thanks: Shack, Touch Arcade. Splinter Cell: Blacklist is out August 20 on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda has said he’s “always up to the idea” of creating another No More Heroes game. Speaking with Joystiq, Suda 51 said: “Travis [Touchdown] is one of the characters I’m really fond of, that means a lot to me. So if there was the opportunity to create another sequel then yeah, I’m always up to the idea.” Until then, fans can appease themselves with Killer is Dead on PS3 and Xbox 360 in August.

Yesterday, it was reported that some Gmestop locations had taken Xbox One out of the store database, as one Twitter user noted. Today, Polygon has learned “retail locations around the country” have reached launch-day allocations.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D topped the Media Create charts in Japan with 104,569 units moved, and ultimately helped provide 3DS with a much needed surge after disappointed hardware sales over the last couple of weeks. Sales of 3DS LL hit 29,533 units over the prior week’s 27,172 units, while 3DS sales saw the biggest jump out of the two offerings. The system moved 17,602 compared to 12,700 the prior week.
