Capcom releases a lovely fact sheet for Dead Rising 2

Capcom has released a fact sheet for Dead Rising 2, and it provides you with a background story on our new hero, ex-motocross rider Chuck Greene, and the zombie outbreak in Fortune City.
Here is just a smidgen:
Like millions of Americans, Chuck is gripped by the TV sensation that is Terror is Reality. Hosted by the flamboyant Tyrone King and ably assisted by his two glamorous co-hosts, Terror is Reality pits ordinary members of the public against an arena full of zombies with a simple challenge – kill more zombies than your opponents and stay alive. The lucky winner will collect big money and the chance to come back and secure even greater prizes.
Like a modern day gladiatorial contest, those lucky enough to get a grandstand seat urge the contestants to spill more zombie blood, with over the top takedowns greeted by rapturous applause and the promise of slow motion replays on the arena’s jumbotron. So, what is it that has forced Chuck to risk his life, is he trying to recapture the fame of his motocross days, does he have a reason to hate zombies, or is it simply the lure of big money?
Sounds terrific. The full thing is past the break.

Multiplayer details emerge for Dead Rising 2

You’ve heard about the moose head helmet, the weapons, the wheelchair, and many other wonderful things regarding Dead Rising 2 this morning, but now comes some more details on the multiplayer aspect.
Turns out, a series of multiplayer challenges for up to four players online include “jumping into giant hamster balls and mowing down the undead; seeing who can place the most drill buckets on zombies’ heads” and “taking to the arena on a motorbike with chainsaws for handlebars” and that trusty antler helmet.
There is also the option to “fight dirty” by messing with other players scoring.
Game is slated for release before March 31 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Thanks, Shack.

Video of RE5 working with PS3 motion controller
After the break. You can see very clearly what’s going on here. The game seems to work well with Sony’s wand, although the guy playing does appear to be holding both the motion controller and a standard pad. At the same time.
This is footage taken from yesterday’s Sony TGS press conference. PS3′s motion system is slated for a spring 2010 launch.
Thanks, Syrok.

White Knight Chronicles 2 – first trailer
Decent quality shakycam footage of the White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness trailer debuted at TGS yesterday’s after the break, thanks to Siliconera.
It’s all looking a bit Final Fantasy, but there’s some awesome CG going on there. Great turtle monster thing.
No date. PS3-only.

Watch the Mercedes SLS AMG in Gran Turismo 5 action
There’s a HD video of the Mercedes SLS AMG in action in GT5 on YouTube. You’d be hard pressed to separate game and film in parts.
The Polyphony racer was confirmed for a March 31 ship in Japan at TGS yesterday.

Video – Natal demoed with Katamari and Space Invaders at TGS
Microsoft’s demoing Natal with Katamari and Space Invaders at TGS this week. You can watch a video of the Katamari demo after the break.
Get write-ups from Kotaku and IGN.
Looks as though it works, although that’s a lovely bright white room going on there. Project director Kudo Tsunoda told Kotaku there that the setting’s irrelevant thanks to the camera’s infrared sensor, though, and that the system can be used in total darkness.
If you say so, Kudo. Natal’s expected at the end of next year.

FFXIII – new gameplay videos
A couple of new off-screen FFXIII gameplay movies after the break, one showing general character animation and the other showing combat. Neither have audio.
The Japanese version ships for PS3 in December. It’s looking pretty “swish,” to say the least.

Front Mission Evolved – three off-screen gameplay vids
Hit the link for three off-screen movies of Front Mission Evolved from the TGS showfloor.

See for yourself.

LittleBigPlanet working with PS3 motion tech – video
After the break. It shows the LBP motion tech demo from yesterday’s magically appearing Sony TGS press conference, featuring a woman playing with the motion stick and a guy using a standard controller.
Looking nice and interesting. And cute as ever.
PS3′s motion system releases next spring. Thanks, Syrok.

After the break! The first is off-screen footage of deathmatch from TGS, and the second is a full ten minutes of co-op. Very awesome it looks too.
Go! It’s out next year. Thanks, Blerk.
Update – Added another video from IGN. This one shows gas canister rocket-style fun.

TGS 09 has record first day
A record amount of people sashayed through TGS 09′s doors on its first day yesterday, with 27,435 attendees attending compared to 27,305 last year, Famitsu reports.
Over 190,000 visited the show in total in 2008. Looks as though GamesCom’s going to be safe as the largest game show this year (and ever) with over 245,000 people clocked.
Thanks GoNintendo.

Gears 3 for “the next console generation” [Update]
Gears of War 3 will be out next year! No it won’t. Epic boss Mike Capps told EG at TGS yesterday that we’re not going to see another round of Markus and friends for a good while yet.
“If there were a next Gears of War, that will be for the next console generation, whenever that is. If someone knows, please tell me! That’s about four or five years away, I think.”
That, Mike, is like a hammer blow to the heart.
Capps said the developer has been working on Unreal Engine 4 for the last seven year, and gave some detail about how team sizes are always kept under control at the studio.
Whatever. We’re now in mourning.
Update: Looks as though Capps got a little muddled on this. EG just updated its piece:
Epic Games president Michael Capps claims he misspoke during a Q&A session at the Tokyo Game Show today when he said, “If there were a next Gears of War, that will be for the next console generation, whenever that is.”
Speaking to Eurogamer after the event, Capps explained that if the next Gears of War – assuming there is one – were to be released in the next “four to five years”, it would be for current consoles.
Were it to be based on Unreal Engine 4, however, it would have to come out on the next round of consoles, because those are the machines for which Epic is targeting its next generation of money-spinning engine technology.

Epic opens new studio in Tokyo

During a panel at the Tokyo Game Show, Epic Games president Mike Capps announced that the Gears of War developer is staffing up for a studio in Tokyo.
The new team will primarily be responsible for lending its technological know-how to Japanese developers, who’ve traditionally had trouble with the Unreal Engine 3.
However, games aren’t completely out of the question for the exported studio.
“We are fanboys of Japanese gaming … We have deep respect for the long history of excellent Japanese games,” Capps said, using Shadow Complex’s Metroidvanian roots as an example.
There’s more over at Joystiq.

Warriors: Legends of Troy media released by Koei at TGS

Koei has unleashed a new video for Warriors: Legends of Troy along with some screens. D’toid has ‘em.
Legends of Troy covers the 10-year Trojan War, using mythology and the Iliad as references. There will also be interference from Greek Gods, and Achilles and Odysseus are playable.
In the game you can play as Trojans or Greeks through two storylines, and see the war from two perspectives. Battlegrounds are described by Koei as ones that “reach for miles” where players can grapple and throw opponents, attack with a variety of short and long-range weapons, charge with shields, and use evasive maneuvers.
Online multiplayer co-op and competitive play for up to 4 players is included with additional online features such as voice chat, team and individual leaderboards.
It’s expected sometime during spring 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
More through the link.
