Aaron “ACE” Elam was the $200,000 grad prize winner of the Halo 4 Global Championships at PAX last weekend. Elam won the final tie-breaker match over Justin “iGotUrPistola” Deese at 343 Industries sponsored event. “This means everything to me,” Elam told Gamespot. “I’ve been playing Halo since I was nine years old, and I have to say, the games against Deese were the most intense games of Halo in my entire life. I just can’t believe this. I feel like I’m dreaming.” 343 boss Frank O’Connor said he was pleased with how the championships played out and is “excited about the future of Halo in the competitive scene,” and that the firm “can’t wait to do something even cooler in the future.”

The Killer Instinct trailer which popped up during gamescom and was pulled, showing off Chief Thunder’s moves and a mysterious lady fighter, has resurfaced. Her identity is still unconfirmed at this point, but many believe her to be Black Orchid, despite other rumbling stating she is a new character. We’ll see, I suppose. Killer Instinct will be a free download with extra fighters costing £3.99/€4.99 each or through the Killer Instinct Combo Breaker pack for £16.99/€19.99. Thanks, CGR Trailers.

Team Meat’s cat sim Mew-genics is on the floor at PAX Prime in Seattle, but not playable as planned. Still, those who happen to stop by the booth can pick up the official Mew-genics comic. Even though the game wasn’t playable as originally planned, folks can at least watch the opening scene for it below. It’s awesome. Mew-genics tasks players with collecting, caring for cats – much my life as a crazy cat lady – and then players can breed the felines and enter them into cat shows, cat fights, cat races and other crazy things. Mew-genics is slated for an initial release on PC and iPad in 2014.
