Xbox super-boss Don Mattrick will keynote GDC Canada on May 12 in Vancouver, organiser Think Services confirmed today.

His time on stage will focus on the Canadian games industry and how it’s evolving.

“While it’s one thing to discuss the thriving game development field in Canada, it’s another thing entirely to have shaped the transformation of this growing industry yourself; Don Mattrick has done just that,” says Think Services events heaf, Izora de Lillard.

“The mark Don has left, and will invariably continue to leave, on Canadian game development makes him the perfect person to discuss the future role that Canadian developers will play in the industry.”

According to this Gamasutra piece, GDC Canada will take place on May 12-13 next year, to be held at the Vancouver Convention and Exposition Centre.

The organizers have also opened the call for proposals on lectures, roundtables, and panel sessions, and will accept submissions up to midnight, Friday, November 28.

GDC organiser Think Services has announced GDC Canada, the first of which will take place next May.

“GDC’s strength is in its ability to translate its core values to provide both global and local relevance,” said TS global events boss, Kathy Schoback.

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Reboot and New Media BC on GDC Canada, which will serve the regional development community with conference content designed to engender learning, networking and inspiration.”
