Steam Big Picture Mode “coming soon,” says Valve

steam

Valve has said Steam Big Picture Mode is “coming soon,” according to the firm’s Jason Holtman. Speaking to PCGamesN at Develop, Holtman said: “We have all this great content, and it’s super good looking. You own Skyrim on Steam, and a huge television, and 5.1 Surround, why wouldn’t you want to see it there. Customers are constantly saying, ‘I’ve got all this content from you, and I’ve got this other great display device and sound device – can you make this work?’ We’ll ship and see what happens. We’re agnostic as to how people plug that in and how they use it. We’re trying to make it a really good initial experience, and then see what happens.” Valve announced Steam Big Picture Mode during GDC 2011.

EyeToy Kama Sutra once pitched to Sony

kama sutra

SCE producer Pete Smith has told Eurogamer that a company once pitched using the EyeToy to create a Kama Sutra-type application. “Seriously, this was a genuine pitch,” he said. “Obviously we didn’t sign it and it never ever saw the light of day. But we were going, how exactly would we QA it? You can imagine these two big hairy testers going, ‘No, you’re the bitch tonight’. How would you demo the game to press? In one sense I think, god, I wish it would have been done. We could have maybe got some celebrity endorsements and stuff like that. This guy – I can remember it, I will never forget him – he was like, ‘We want to do this. We think it could be great’. We get all kinds of pitches, but that’s definitely the one that stands out for me.” Takes all sorts, we reckon.
