BlizzCon 09: Goblins playable race in next WoW expansion

Chris Metzen, Blizzard’s VP of creative development just took the stage at BlizzCon and announced the new expansion for World of Warcraft, along with two new playable races.
Looks like the new races are Goblins on the Horde side and Worgen are the new alliance race.
Cataclysm was just announced despite earlier leaks and it looks like new dungeons, flying mounts, raids and dungeons will be present as well.

BlizzCon O.C.: New World of Warcraft expansion announced, called Cataclysm

Blizzard’s just announced a brand new expansion for World of Warcraft, known as Cataclysm.
The expansion will change the face of Azeroth, as Nathan put it during the livetext, as the war against the Lich King contines in the expansion.
The expansion also sees the level cap rise to 85 with new dungeons and raids added.
There will also be a new achievements system from guild leveling.

Monk revealed as fourth Diablo III class [Update]
Update: It’s just been confirmed at the Blizzcon OC. A trailer’s been shown as well, all real-time and no CG. More at the livetext below.
Original Story: A accidental leak on the Korean portal of the Diablo III website has revealed the fourth class in the game to be the monk.

BlizzCon 2009 Opening Ceremony liveblog

Here we go again with another liveblog kiddos. This time it’s BlizzCon 2009.
Be sure and come back to this space for the Opening Ceremony of BlizzCon, and maybe, just maybe we will hear more about the rumored Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft, updates on StarCraft II and Diablo III – and who knows – Blizzard may announce its secret MMO.
One can only dream.
The schedule says that doors open for attendees around 10:00am PST/1:00pm EST – that’s around 6:00pm for the UK and things will get started around 11:30 PST/2:30 EST/7:30 UK.

Weekly MMO news round-up: Conan at PAX, LOTRO gets new jewelry, WoW expansion leaks

Loads of stuff happened this week with MMOs. Bethesda laughed off an Elder Scrolls MMO, APB started the Beta application process, Aion released pretty trailers, Star Wars will be playable at GamesCom and all other sorts of interesting things happened.
What we didn’t tell you about was that Lord of the Rings Online got some new jewelry and bounty quests in Esteldin, Funcom will announce Conan stuff at PAX, and there were some rumored leaks on the upcoming WoW expansion posted all over God’s green earth.

Ozzy Osbourne confirmed for Blizzcon gig
Blizzard just confirmed that Ozzy Osbourne will play as Blizzcon next week, as previously rumoured.
“Our goal with BlizzCon is to deliver an unforgettable weekend of entertainment, and we can’t think of a better way to close out this year’s show than having Ozzy rock the house,” said Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime.

Ozzy Osbourne to appear at Blizzcon
A DirecTV listing has apparently confirmed that ageing rocker Ozzy Osbourne is to appear at Blizzcon next week, as reported by Wow.com.
Osbourne will be making a ” special appearance” at the event, although that’s all the info so far.
Blizzcon 2009 takes place on August 21-22 in Anaheim, CA.

Blizzcon 2009 tickets sold out in 8 minutes
Missed this from the Acti Q2 call earlier this week. Company execs said in the chat that all 20,000 Blizzcon tickets sold out in less than eight minutes this year.
The event’s taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on August 20-21.

Blizzcon tourney streaming vids free, pay-per-view costs £25
Blizzard’s confirmed that all tournament streams from Blizzcon later this month are to be viewable by all.
“The tournament coverage streams are free, but to watch panels, see new announcements as they are made, or receive the in-game pet, you will need to order the Pay Per View Internet stream,” said blue poster Cydra.
If you want to watch the main reveal event and all the panel discussions, you’ll need to fork out a handsome £25. Details here.
Blizzcon takes place on August 21-22 in Anaheim, CA.

Blizzard confirms Gamescom presence
Blizzard just confirmed it’s to have a stand at Gamescom this year. You’ll be able to hook up with the WoW behemoth in Cologne on booths B21 and B23 in Halle 6.
There’s no detail on what’s to be shown by the firm as yet, but there will be a link-up between Cologne and Anaheim on the Friday night for Blizzcon’s kick-off in the US. You’ll need to be invited to get into that, though.

Warcraft Regional Finals to be held in Cologne June 26 – 28

Blizzard has confirmed details for the upcoming Warcraft Regional Finals at the KOMED MediaPark, Cologne.
The event will be held from June 26 – 28 with two European and North American Arena teams advancing to the Global Finals which will take place at BlizzCon 2009 in August.
Two Warcraft III players from North America, and three Warcraft III players from Europe will also advance to the Global Finals.

Consider this a public service announcement of sorts, because, well, we like to keep you informed.
Therefore, if you missed out on purchasing tickets last week to BlizzCon, today is your last chance lest you purchase them for an exhorberant amount off of eBay.

The second lot of BlizzCon 2009 tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Blizzard just announced.
You’ll get your chance to buy one at 10 am PST. Tickets are priced at $125 each and will go on sale at the event’s official site.
The event itself takes place on August 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
You’d better pray if you’re after a place: the first bunch sold out in minutes.

BlizzCon pet is the WoW exclusive Grunty the Murloc Marine

Attendees who brave the crowds at BlizzCon 2009 or order the DirectTV broadcast of the event will be given Grunty the Murloc Marine as a World of Warcraft exclusive.
Last year it was the polar bear mount, this year it’s a pet that packs a gauss rifle it fires into the air to make sure no invisible spacecraft are honing in for the attack.
Can’t go wrong there. Watch him below.
