HMV buyer Hilco is said to be cutting 400 jobs following its recent acquisition of the brand. It follows hope that all 2,500 jobs were to be saved across the brand’s 141 UK stores last week.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition retail version delayed into June
Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was expected to be released on disc April 30, but it has been delayed to June 4 according to Major Nelson. The tweet he posted said the reason for the delay was to “include the very latest content.” The disc version was to include Update 9 which was recently released, and it wasn’t said whether the delay was to include Update 10 which is in the works now. We’ll let you know when we hear more about it.

Luigi’s Mansion reigns supreme at retail in Japan
Luigi’s Mansion was still the number one title on the Media Create charts for the week, moving 111,000 units extra. Fate/Extra CCC debuted in second place for PSP, moving 73,000 units. On the hardware side of things, Wii and Wii U were the only offerings to show an increase over the prior week with 1,858 and 22,829 units moved, respectively. All other hardware units saw a decline in sales.

Blockbuster UK sold to Gordon Brothers Europe
Deloitte has completed the sale of Blockbuster UK to Gordon Brothers Europe. The firm purchased the brand license, 264 stores, and the 2,000 jobs which came with the buy. “Having identified a profitable core portfolio of stores we are pleased to have achieved this sale for creditors,” joint administrator Lee Manning stated. “Together with the previously announced store sales more than half of the original estate has been secured for ongoing use. This transaction provides Blockbuster a future in the UK.” The amount paid for the chain was not disclosed. Thanks, MCV.

Majesco Q1 declines necessitate move to most profitable platforms moving forward
Majesco has released its financial results for its first quarter of fiscal 2013. For the period ending on January 31, net revenues came in at $23.5 million, which is down 65% compared to $66.2 million year-over-year. Net loss for Q1 was $2.1 million compared to net income of $7.7 million during Q1 of fiscal year 2012.

Project Diva F, Soul Sacrifice and Vita dominate Media Create charts
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F and Soul Sacrifice took the top spots in the Media Create charts for the period of March 4-10, with the former moving 110,229 units on PS3 and Comcept’s debut moving 92,396 units on Vita. The handheld also took the top spot on the hardware charts, thanks to last month’s price drop. While sales were only up 1,038 units over the week prior, it still moved 63,581 units which is considerably better than its recent sales history.
