Microsoft announced sell-through of more than 2 million Xbox One units worldwide this morning, matching Sony’s 2.1 million PS4 units sold, during the console’s first 18 days on the market. According to Robert W. Baird & Co.’s Colin Sebastian, the trade firm expects “relatively balanced sales” for both consoles by the end of the launch window.

Toys’R'Us has confirmed it will have both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One units in stock this week. Even more delightfully, the stock will be sold online only, so you don’t have to jostle elbows with the hoi polloi; just hit refresh a gazillion times. The fresh stock will go on sale at 12:01am ET tonight, but the appropriate website already appears to be struggling.

Asda has announced that 155 of its stores will have PlayStation 4 in-stock for the console’s launch this Friday in the UK. Consumers who haven’t pre-ordered the console should be able to pick up up, then, but note once the stock runs out that’s it and it’s allotting one per customer on a first come, first served basis. It will be available as a stand-alone console or through a bundle including Knack for £379 or with Call of Duty: Ghosts for £385. Out of the 155 stores, 142 will be opening at midnight. NPD has said in addition to the $1.30 billion spent in the US on new physical video and PC game software during the July – September period, total consumer spend on other physical forms of content (used and rental) reached $436 million, and content in digital format generated $1.72 billion.
