XSEED teasing creepy new horror title
XSEED has dropped two trailers for an unannounced game expected in the US in autumn. One features localisation manager Tom Lipschultz in full on creeper mode, but more tellingly, another shows off art and teases a story strongly reminiscent of Corpse Party, an amateur game made in RPG Maker and later professionally ported to PSP.
An XSEED comment left on Siliconera doesn’t deny the connection.
Check both trailers out on the teaser site. Thanks, Joystiq.

XSeed announces Wizard of Oz JRPG

Four party members? Magic footwear? Flying monkey creatures? Why didn’t the Wizard of Oz get turned into a JRPG sooner? Well, at least XSeed and D3 Publisher have teamed up to finally realize author L. Frank Baum’s true vision.
Titled The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road, the game’s a fairly straightforward JRPG with one twist: everything is stylus-controlled — even movement, which is controlled via a virtual trackball.
The game’s coming to North America this fall. Unfortunately, XSeed doesn’t publish outside North America, so Beyond the Yellow Brick Road’s release elsewhere is still up in the air.
Thanks, Siliconera.

XSEED bringing Sky Crawlers to North America

Update: No word yet on a European release date. PR “isn’t sure what’s going on with European release at this time.” Bummer.
Sky Crawlers has been out for a bit in Japan, but for the rest of the world, playing the game has only been a pie-in-the-sky dream. Or, well, maybe pie that just fell on the ground, but only has a few hairs on it. Regardless, dream no more if you live in North America, because XSEED’s publishing the game.
Developed by Ace Combat pilots Project Aces, Sky Crawlers is due this holiday season. It’s about — what else — airplanes. You fly and shoot stuff using the Wii-mote and nunchuck. Should be good fun.
We’ve put in an email asking whether or not the game will be published in Europe, as XSEED only publishes games in North America. We’ll keep you posted.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Xseed secures US rights to distribute Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Xseed has secured the North American publishing rights to Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.
Set to the backdrop of an atmospheric post-apocalyptic world, the tri-Crescendo-developed project will land on Wii this winter.
“We are ecstatic to be able to finally confirm Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon for gamers in North America,” said Jun Iwasaki, president of Xseed Games. “We have received countless requests from eager gamers pleading with us to publish this title, and it gives us great joy to be able to give the public what they want while being able to work on such a great game.”
The game takes you through the adventures of a boy named Seto who may possibly be the last human alive.
IGN has an interview with Xseed’s localization manager Kenji Hosoi over on it’s site.
Go have a read.

Feel is now called JU-ON: The Grudge, hits US near Halloween

XSEED Games officially announced JU-ON: The Grudge today, and it’s scheduled for release in the US sometime in October.
Previously known to us as Feel, the Wii game is being toted as a “haunted house simulator” where instant scares are given priority over all other game aspects.
Using the Wii Remote as a flashlight, players explore haunted areas like an abandoned warehouse, a hospital, and a mannequin factory – proceeding forward even after being frightened and running away.
A second player can even take hold of another Wii Remote and push buttons to make in-game events happen immediately to the original player.
Choose that second player wisely then, we suggest.
Press release is posted below.

Notables in there are Resident Evil 5, Crysis Warhead, Mirror’s Edge, LOTR: Conquest and Killzone 2. Expect there to be a race among sites for the next month to get people to admit what they’re showing in LA.
