Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag has begun sneaking out of some retailers around the world, and while Ubisoft Montreal won’t punish players for picking up an advance copy, it will reset its multiplayer ladders at launch to keep things fair.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag drops next week, on PS3 and Xbox 360 at least, but those wanting the PC versions will have to wait until November. To give you an incentive for the wait, Ubisoft Montreal and Nvidia have released a video showing the card maker’s-exclusive effects, features and technologies, inherent in the desktop version. Ubisoft Quebec’s director of narrative design, Jill Murray, has said she prefers “juicy and real” when it comes to narrative involving female portrayals in games, and feels when writers are “trying” to portray them in a positive light, it comes across as disingenuous.

The Fighter Within, which launches alongside Xbox One November, has a new video available showing off the Kinect game from Ubisoft. You can play against a friend as well and use various kicks, punches, counters, throws, combos, special moves, everything else you would expect from a fighting game – only using your own moves and not a controller. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Watch Dogs will each feature downloadable content that will be exclusive to PlayStation platforms for six months. That’s according to small print in the US version of yesterday’s PS4 promotional video that focused on the platform’s exclusives.

Rocksmith 2014 Edition is out today in North America and in the UK on October 25th, so Ubisoft has released the launch trailer for it. The educational game comes with a redesigned interface, as well as the addition of all-new features, techniques, tunings and modes allowing you to learn to play in just 60 days. I’ll find out if that is the case this Christmas when I get it. I may even vlog it. Who knows. To further extend the game, DLC songs and packs are planned with the first batch out now. The latest trailer for The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot shows off a new addition to the in-beta free-to-play title – customisation. When the latest update drops later today, players will be able to customise their characters with headgear, as well as spruce up their dungeons with castle themes. The update also adds side effects on rare loot, shield deactivation, more than 20 new castle rooms and more. The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot has players building castles and raiding each other’s creations. You can sign up to check it out on its website.

The biggest improvement to Kinect being touted in the run-up to the Xbox One launch is that it requires a great deal less space to be used effectively. This means that Ubisoft’s launch title The Fighter Within will only need around 5 feet of play space. Which isn’t too bad, really.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag lead game designer Jean-Sebastien Decant has suggested that while the core game will take around 20 hours to finish, completing the additional content could see you scouring the sandbox for a further 60 hours. That’s 80 hours people.

Watch Dogs has been delayed into 2014 and retailer Amazon UK is said to have contacted pre-order customers to offer them alternative PS4 bundles. Some of Sony’s console packs were set to be packaged in a branded Watch Dogs box with a copy of the game inside. Check out the alternate titles here.
