Machinima’s gone live with a three minute gameplay video of XBLA arena shooter Nexuiz ahead of its launch in a few weeks as part of House Party. The video focusses on a group of three weapons, known as the super weapon mutators: super shotgun, super nex and super hager. Also something in there about a mutator that turns weapon noises into farts. I’m not even going to go there.

The Illfonic-made, THQ-published shooter launches on February 29.

THQ and Random House have announced an original novel set in the Darksiders universe will be published by Del Rey in May. Titled “Darksiders: The Abomination Vault”, it was written by author Ari Marmell and takes place millennia before the events of the first game in the series. Random House will also develop the IP bible for the Darksiders universe. Darksiders II us out this summer on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

THQ Australia has confirmed the publisher’s ongoing restructuring has affected Australian staff, although the fate of its Japanese office remains unknown.

THQ has announced a round of lay-off today, affecting its administrative and publishing departments. The firm didn’t provide information pertaining to how many employees were let go, but said the job losses occurred outside of its five internal studios: THQ San Diego, THQ Montreal, Relic, Volition, and Vigil. THQ announced earlier this week it was exiting the kids’ licensed games category, to focus on its core game franchises and digital initiatives. Thanks, Joystiq.

Aside from being the creative director behind the Darksiders games, Joe Madureira is also quite the established comic book writer/artist – and unsurprisingly, rather enjoys Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda.

PC World‘s offering the bonkers (literally) awesome Saints Row: The Third on PC for £14.99 as a digital download. Sound good? Surely £11.99 can sweeten the deal a bit, si? A demo for UFC Undisputed 3 has landed on PSN and XBL. The demo features a matchup between current UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. In addition, the Pride Mode rivalry between champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva is included. The demo also offers mirror matches against another player or AI as the same fighter for the “ultimate test of skill.” UFC Undisputed 3 is currently scheduled for release on February 14 PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nelson’s dropped the full list of dates and prices for this year’s Xbox Live House Party line-up, with the main bits being Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, launching on February 22 for 1200 MS points, and I Am Alive, releasing for the same price point on March 7. EA and Trapdoor’s Warp launches for 800 MS points, while THQ-published shooter Nexuiz releases on February 29 for the same pricepoint.

THQ’s confirmed the demo for UFC Undisputed 3 will launch on Xbox Live next Tuesday. And that’s that: no word on fighters or the like that will feature in the taster. A PS3 version isn’t mentioned, although it’s assumable that will arrive at the same time.
