The Walking Dead developer TellTale has used the episodic release model for many years, to great effect. In a keynote speech delivered at DICE Summit 2013, CEO Dan Connors talked up the episodic formula’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Walking Dead is now available for purchase from North American retailers on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, Telltale has announced. Previously only available as a digital download, the retail version of the game series sells will run you $29.99, and compiles entire first season of the game, which debuted in April. The Walking Dead is also available to download for Mac through the Telltale Online Store and other digital outlets as well as the App Store.

The Walking Dead: Episode 5 is out next week, and Telltale has released a teaser shot of what to expect during the season finale. The developer has also released a video divulging stats on player choices during Episode 4 and the latest episode of Playing Dead. Finally, a trailer for Episode 5 is promised for Monday, so you’ll want to keep your eyes glued to the computer screen that day. Episode 5 lands on PSN in the US on November 20, and on PSN EU, XBLA, PC, MAC, and iOS November 21. Hit the break for the screen and videos.
