EverQuest franchise diector Dave Georgeson has confirmed on Twitter that the next EverQuest game is officially titled EverQuest Next. The game was announced under the same moniker way back in 2010, but it was described as a working title only. We’ve heard very little since, although Massively reports development was completely rebooted at least once, so don’t hold your breath; that said, there are hints we may see it this year.

Not every multiplayer PlayStation 4 game will require PlayStation Plus; when it comes to free-to-play publishers will have the choice, and Sony Online Entertainment has decided against it.

Puretia, a starter zone for Dragon’s Prophet, has a video showing it off below. The area contains Lake Krent, a volcano and the gigantic city of Arboran. In this area, players will have to fight back a zombie invasion and disrupt “mysterious experiments of a secret society” before they can travel the safe streets of the city. Watch below the break. SOE has confirmed DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 will be released on PS4. Each will be made available as free-to-play digital downloads later this year, reports IGN. Earlier this week, DCUO’s Larry Liberty said PS4 would be an “MMO-friendly platform.” Not much else was annnounced regarding the titles on the console, but just knowing both are coming is good enough for now. We expect to hear more at E3 next week.

Dragon’s Prophet has gone into open beta in Europe, and to get you acquainted with the dragon-riding MMO, Runewaker has released two new videos highlighting the Laedis and Satuma zones. Watch below, and sign up for the beta through here if interested.

Dragon’s Prophet will go into open beta in Europe starting this weekend. Starting tomorrow, from 2.00pm onwards, players can jump into the fray and if you purchased the Founder’s Pack, you can play in the beta as early as today. During the beta, current contents will be improved upon, and major updates and large-scale expansions are already in the works. Hit up the official website for more information.

Dragon’s Prophet will go into open beta next week, and to get you ready for some dragon riding action, SOE has released a new trailer showing the mounts and battle partners in action.

Guild Launch will be handing out thousands of closed beta keys for SOE’s Dragon’s Prophet MMO. Those interested in nabbing one, should head over now, as they are being handed out on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Guilds, as I told you before, will be an important factor in Dragon’s Prophet due not only to the PvP, but the Frontier System in general. Guild Launch is the exclusive US host for the game’s beta keys so hurry and get one before they are all out. Dragon’s Prophet is slated for a Q2 release this year.

The Last of Us is only weeks away. Classically, the press have been lucky enough to play some segments before the big release. After the break, we have some new gameplay to go along with all the coverage.

Sony Online Entertainment has released a companion mobile app for Planetside 2, available now for free on Android and iOS. PCGamesN reports the app allows you to voice chat with your compadres, which is kind of amazing if you’re trying to organise whatever the shooter MMO has instead of raids. It also connects to various social media and community destinations, provides information on game systems, has a news ticker, offers leaderboards and stores your character’s stats for bragging rights at the pub.

Sony Online Entertainment recently decided to compensate Planetside 2 players who had purchased useless duplicate items with Certs, the MMO’s currency. Unfortunately, PCGamesN claims something went terribly wrong, and many players have received ridiculously inflated rewards, and the leaderboards are groaning under the weight of so many overnight millionaires, kitted out with every upgrade available all at once. The latest update from SoE’s Matt Higby denies any erroneous payouts, but an earlier post mentioned that any errors wouldn’t be rolled back.
