Neo Geo Pocket resurrected in Japan
Neo Geo Pocket is back in business. Well, in Japan at least. It’ll be back as a portable games device for a Japanese audience, according to Andriasang, who say SNK has given its blessing for the licensing of the new product. It’ll come with a 4.3 inch screen, 2Gb of storage and with a list of 20 classic NeoGeo titles, including Metal Slug and Fatal Fury. No release date or price as yet.

Oops: Modern Warfare 2 glitch grants free access to XBLA games

In Infinity Ward’s defense, we don’t imagine “unlocks a full copy of The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match” is a common bug to check for.

Neo Geo Pocket Color is 10 years old
Yesterday was the tenth birthday of the launch of Neo Geo Pocket Color in the US.
The handheld was a short-lived affair, being dumped from both US and European markets in 2000 when Aruze bought SNK.
It was finally snuffed out of existence in 2001, when it was discontinued in Japan.
According to Wikipedia, the machine did about 2 million units – with NGP sales included – and had a properly awesome Metal Slug version. That’s how we remember it, anyway: it was a long time ago.
Thanks, GSW.

King of Fighters XII confirmed for July on 360 and PS3

SNK and Ignition just confirmed that The King of Fighters XII will release this July for both 360 and PS3.
The game was rumoured as a summer launch for PS3 this morning.
“Our development slogan for KOFXII is ‘KOF Re-Birth’ and we’ve aimed to create an entirely new King of Fighters game. To make this a truly unique fighting game, we’ve revolutionized the graphics by creating state of the art visuals – and made no compromises in that process whatsoever,” said SNK Playmore boss, Masaaki Kukino.
The handdrawn fighter is nothing short of beautiful. This is very good news.
Press release after the drop.

Rumour: King of Fighters XII for PS3 this summer

The King of Fighters XII trailer after the break – which looks blinking stupendulous – apparently shows the game as having a summer release date for PS3.
We say “apparently,” because the “summer” bit looks distinctly stuck on. So does the “PlayStation 3″ bit, if we’re being honest.
The game was always pegged for a 2009 release for both PS3 and 360.
Take a look.
